At the end of last year, Oscar Martinez celebrated his 60th anniversary at the Disneyland Resort, making him the longest tenured cast member on property. September 27, Chef Oscar hung up his chef coat one final time and officially retired.
Oscar started in the Disneyland resort on December 29, 1956 as a quick-service cook in Fantasyland. In 1967, Chef Oscar moved to Carnation Cafe on Main Street, where he and his famous breakfast potatoes became a staple among guests. Over the last few years, if you were to visit Carnation Cafe, you could find Chef Oscar greeting guests, and taking pictures with families.
“Oscar has created magic for more than 60 years at the Disneyland Resort,” said Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier. “He has been an icon to our guests and an inspiration to our cast. We are honored to have worked with him, and we wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement.”
