The Emperor’s New Groove: 2-Movie Collection – Blu-Ray Review by Mr. DAPs
The Emperor’s New Groove and Kronk’s New Groove are being released on Blu-Ray. In The Emperor’s New Groove, Emperor Kuzco (David Spade) is turned into a lama by his advisor Yzma (Eartha Kitt). He is forced to befriend Pacha (John Goodman) who’s house he wants to destroy, and learn what it means to be selfless in his quest to return to being a human. In Kronk’s New Groove, the story is told of how Kronk (Patrick Warburton) attempts to please his father.
Picture and Sound:
It may come as no surprise that The Emperor’s New Groove both looks and sounds better than Kronk’s New Groove. The Emperor’s New Groove looks and sounds pretty good. I’m not going to say amazing though. The colors are great but it just isn’t perfect. I have a feeling this is because there are two movies included with this presentation. The sound was good but not great as well. Kronk’s New Groove seemed a step lower on all counts in quality. Once again, I am not saying it is horrible… It just seems like it could have been a tad bit better.
Bonus Features:
The bonus features were a little bit disappointing for both of these movies. The only place they could be found were on the DVDs. They also were only previously released bonus features and audio commentary.
Final Thoughts:
The Emperor’s New Groove and Kronk’s New Groove are quite fun to watch again in the living room. I really enjoyed The Emperor’s New Groove and I really did enjoy watching it again. Kronk’s New Groove was fun also but not nearly as memorable as the first movie… even though I love Kronk. I’m going to give this a hat nod as there were a few disappointments with quality and the bonus features. However, it is a good value to get both movies to be able to watch. If you are a fan of these movies, definitely get it for your Disney library!
PRESS RELEASE:
Two Hilarious Disney Animated Comedies Together!
First Time on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack – June 11
This summer, Walt Disney Studios invites audiences to get into the groove with two outrageously funny animated comedies, “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Kronk’s New Groove” available June 11, 2013 for the first time ever on Blu-ray hi-definition, in a 2 movie collection. The 3-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack includes both feature films on a single Blu-ray disc plus each film on individual DVDs.
The fun begins with “The Emperor’s New Groove,” featuring an all-star cast and Academy Award®-nominated music by Sting (Best Music, Original Song, Sting, 2000). When the young and spoiled Emperor Kuzco (voice of David Spade) is transformed into a llama by his sinister advisor Yzma (voice of Eartha Kitt) and her henchman Kronk (voice of Patrick Warburton), it takes a thoughtful peasant named Pasha (voice of John Goodman) to restore the kingdom and show Kuzco just how much fun it is to be true to yourself.
Then audiences can continue the fun with “Kronk’s New Groove.” The outrageous sequel stars Yzma’s hilarious henchman Kronk in a riotous adventure that’s filled with hysterical mayhem and mishaps. Kronk cooks up a get-rich quick scheme to impress his Dad.
