Hong Kong’s Mickey will celebrate its first Halloween

Hong Kong Disneyland Thursday said it will celebrate its first Halloween in Hong Kong from Sept. 30 to Oct. 31, when its target of drawing 5.6 million visitors in its firs year seems to be more illusory than realistic.

Hong Kong Disneyland said the park will be decorated in Halloween colors with yellow and purple and all the cartoon figures will appear in their newly designed Halloween costumes during the celebration. They hope the new entertainment can draw more visitors to the park.

The park said visitors can play traditional Trick or Treat games with their favorite Disney villains, such as Captain Hook in "Peter Pan", the Stepmother in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", and Cruella de Vil in "101 Dalmatians" . Besides, Mickey will greet his fans in his Zorro look and Miney will be a beautiful witch during the ghost festival.

Meanwhile, the park admitted on Monday that its total number of visitors is only slightly over 5 million and it can not reach the target of drawing 5.6 million visitors until the end of September or early October.

Hong Kong Disneyland claimed the newly designed entertaining program is not aiming at competition with the Hong Kong Ocean Park, which will also hold a celebration during the same period. Instead, the park said it hopes the celebrations held by the two parks can together draw more visitors.
