The Walt Disney World Resort has announced that it will be closing its gates due to the arrival of Hurricane Matthew. Guests visiting the official website of Walt Disney World today found an announcement at the top of the page with this news. According to the website, Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, miniature golf courses and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will all be closed today by 5 p.m. They will all remain closed tomorrow, October 6th. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom will also be cancelled both tonight and tomorrow night due to the storm.
At this point it is unknown if the parks will be reopening on Saturday October 7th. This decision will most likely be based on the weather and announced by Disney when it is appropriate to do so.
Walt Disney World has also put up an FAQ for guests wondering about the impact of Hurricane Matthew on the Resort. It can be found here.
DAPs Magic will update this story as information becomes available.
UPDATE 3:46 PM PST
Walt Disney World will refund tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom or exchange them for another night.
