On this day in 1910, Imagineer and Disney Legend Richard Irvine was born. Walt Disney lured Irvine away from 20th Century Fox and asked him to negotiate a deal with architects to design Disneyland. As a film art director, Irvine understood that Disney’s own staff would be best equipped for the specialized task. Irvine led a team of artists, designers, engineers, and technicians in creating Disneyland, leading to the formation of Walt Disney Imagineering.
