On this day in 2016, the live-action reimagining of ‘Pete's Dragon' was released in theaters. The remake is set in the Pacific Northwest in the early 1980s and presents a more dramatic take than the original 1977 musical. Forest ranger Grace finds young orphan Pete alone in the woods and claims that he was raised by his best friend Elliot, a large green dragon. She must work to find the truth about the mysterious pair. ‘Pete’s Dragon’ earned critical success and was Disney’s third live-action remake after ‘Cinderella’ and ‘The Jungle Book.'
