Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Daps. I'm Katie. And we're so excited that you're here on the first Tuesday in August. No, it's
0:37
not. It's literally not. It's the second Tuesday in August. So, we're excited you're here for that, too.
0:43
It's the first Tuesday after the first Tuesday. Yeah, that there we go. There we go. Apparently Indie wants to be in the show. So, uh you might see a little bit
0:50
of him. What should people do, Katie? You should What is your issue? You should subscribe
0:56
to this YouTube channel. uh YouTube.comdapsmagic. We are almost to 100,000 subscribers.
1:02
You should go to patreon.comdapsmagic uh where we do an aftershow to this show
1:09
called DAPS after dark. We have a lot of fun and you should go into the chat or into the comments so that you could be
1:15
featured in the end segment. Comments, comments. That is exactly what it is called. But
1:21
before we get into any of that, we have something very, very important that we need to talk about, and that is the
1:27
Muppets. Thanks, Daddy. Thank you, Mr. Dad. Thanks, man. Thank you, Mr. Dad. Thanks,
1:33
man. For quite some time, we have been
1:40
tracking which Muppets are picked each week by the Muppets to be honored during
1:45
their 70th anniversary. And uh this last week was a nice, pleasant surprise. It was Staller and Waldorf. And as you can
1:52
see, here are all of the Muppets that have been recognized so far. And so my
1:57
big question is Katie H. Who's next?
2:02
Um, I'm still going to say Gloria Stefan.
2:07
Okay. Because I think that would be a great pick. But I do feel like we are back on
2:14
the path for um mainstream Muppets. I actually feel like there's a chance now
2:19
that we could get Bobo the bear because he's big but he's not, you know, he's
2:25
he's in the middle. I feel like that could happen. Um, who knows? Like, you
2:30
never know. Um, let's see who else people think it could be. I think I saw
2:36
somewhere for Fuzzy. Moving back to Fozy. There we go. Um,
2:42
Uncle Deadly obviously, but Fozzy's the the main choice it looks
2:49
like. All right, that is good choice. That is a good choice. We'd love to see Fozy. Fuzzy is a fantastic choice. But
2:54
uh stick with Bobo. Yeah, I want Bobo to get get some love. Like I think that would be fantastic.
3:01
Yeah. Yeah. All right, we'll keep tracking this and we'll see how it goes. We've got a few more months of this to go and
3:07
uh hopefully Boba the Bear, Gloria Stefan, Fozy get
3:13
some love. Gloria Stefon's like for sure never going to be featured and that's okay. You say that, but look at some of the
3:20
other ones we've got. Yeah, but I feel like nobody cared about Muppets ABC. I don't know. But also, if Denise the Pig gets
3:27
something, I will riot. I will be so angry. Yeah, it's insane. I don't know. Anyway,
3:34
we will see what happens. All right, it has been a big week for Disney news. In fact, so much so that we had a hard time
3:40
picking what was going to be on the show tonight. So, we thought we'd start with some super stuff. Super stuff.
3:46
Yes, some super stuff. So, first off, Minnie Mouse was showing off her super suit as the Disney Destiny was being
3:52
floated out over in Papenberg, Germany, and uh it's getting one step closer to
3:59
taking guests on the maiden voyage in November. And I will admit like I I've
4:06
been impressed by the ship as as we've been seeing different pieces shared from the outside, but when you see the whole
4:12
thing next to that that building, I was I was kind of blown away at how
4:19
big it was and then also how pretty it is. Like it is all of the the Disney Cruise Line ships are pretty, but this
4:25
one in particular just really I don't know. I thought it was very uh fun to look at. And you know, you had fireworks
4:32
and all that fun stuff and it's great, too. But um but the ship was the main attraction. The ship was the main attraction and the
4:38
morning was perfect. Like it was beautiful. What do you think of it? I think it looks great. I think Minnie
4:44
Mouse looks like a very strange posed action figure, but I think the ship is
4:51
beautiful. I was very like I know cruise ships are big. I am
4:56
aware. I have been on multiple cruise ships. I still was like, "Oh my god, that's a
5:02
really big cruise ship. That's a It's a big boat. We're gonna I don't know that we're going to need a bigger boat." Like,
5:09
that's I mean, they're going to make one. They're going to make a bigger boat. Are they? I think they're moving
5:14
smaller. So, Disney Adventure is bigger. And I think after that, we're going to be looking smaller. So, I think which I think is
5:21
I think someday there will be a bigger boat. Oh, yeah. H even though we're seeing how well that's
5:26
working out for other cruise lines at the moment. Um,
5:32
but I think smaller cruise ships are the way to go. Like I like a more contained experience. Um, I like to be able to
5:40
I don't want to go on a cruise where I don't know my way around by the end of it. Um, and so I one I think this is
5:48
really cool. I think the spiderbots look really nice on the back. Um, I think Spider-Man looks great. I
5:54
think DCL does an incredible job taking care of their ships. Um, which is why
6:00
like it it was very funny. Um, I know this came up on the DAP Travels podcast,
6:06
but it was an observation that Johnny made and it was an observation that we made or Yeah, we made in port in Alaska.
6:14
Oh, yeah. Uh, it was the oldest Disney Cruise Line ship, which is 30 years old,
6:20
next to a 10-year-old ship of a cruise line that will not be named,
6:26
that I may have been referring to earlier. You would have thought that that cruise
6:33
ship was 30 years old and the DCL's ship was like brand new because of the level
6:39
of maintenance. They always have painters. They always have people. Like you will not see rust on a Disney Cruise
6:45
Line ship because of the level of pride they take in it. So it's nice to see a float out like this knowing that the
6:51
ship is going to continue to look that good. And I did love that our friends Adam
6:57
Bankhurst and Scott Gustin made the trek over to the side so that they could get the sheep photos. Yeah. With I was like
7:04
because to me that's one of the best I don't know there's something. It's a dichotomy. You see the sheep in the
7:11
field and then you've got these beautiful ships going by and I I gave them a hat tip when I saw that. I was
7:17
like, "Well done, guys. That that's that's the way to do." Also, how cool to go to a float out in Germany.
7:22
Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's bucket list. I feel like that's And it was cool to see all of the local um enthusiasts.
7:30
Yeah. That were there, too, because there were so many different live streams happening. And yes, there's that group
7:35
of Disney media that we would know and we work with pretty frequently, but there was also just like cruise
7:42
enthusiasts. Yeah. That are in the area that are following this stuff all of the time. And that was pretty cool to see
7:48
the different perspectives that were from around the harbor in different directions. So, it'll be fun to see this
7:54
one make its way over to uh the East Coast and uh start taking people on
8:00
treks, I guess. Huh. I think it's going to be really, really cool. Yeah. Um, it was also such a special moment.
8:06
Like we're watching the float out and I was like, "Okay, cool." But there is something and I know Johnny is going to
8:14
agree with me for sure and I know my mom's going to agree with me. The moment the fog horn went off.
8:19
Oh yeah, that was I was like, "Yeah, okay. It's real now." Like that is uh I mean, not to put Johnny on blast, but
8:25
every time he gets into his car, it plays the When You Wish Upon a Star Fog horn. though. Um
8:32
I just there is something about that that just can't be matched. I mean besides I will say Princess Cruises when
8:38
they do the Love Boat. I mean it's equally iconic. I I actually think that's that's a good
8:44
it's the most that's a good balance. It's the most equal comparison. Yeah, that that's a very good one. But u it'll be fun to see it come to life and
8:51
then the Disney adventure after that and then whatever comes next. Hopefully we'll know soon. And we will have a new
8:56
DAPS travels podcast coming to all of our platforms very soon. So, uh, keep
9:02
your eyes open for that. But you can thank Taylor Swift for delay. I will say that, uh, there was a missed
9:10
opportunity and I don't know if it's a legal one, but it was a missed. If I'd have been in charge, I should
9:16
have cued the segment. Have super many down on the on the
9:21
dock, right? I would have had I don't know exactly how you do this,
9:27
but I would have had Spider-Man swinging from the top of the ship. Like, how cool
9:33
would that be? I mean, I guess you couldn't cuz he's on the back of the ship, but like Yeah, there's only one Spider-Man. He's
9:38
already dealing with spiderbots. But you know what? I would bet
9:44
robot Spider-Man. I I bet we will see pictures of Mickey and Minnie with them on the back of the
9:50
adventure. Well, I mean the workound for that is that it's a statue honoring them.
9:56
It's a statue. So, I think seeing Spider-Man flying around would have been
10:02
amazing. I mean, that's that's like a missed
10:08
opportunity massively. It's the Hold on. It
10:14
Yes, I do realize it's Spider-Man turn off the dark status there, but it's Disney. Disney could do it safely and
10:21
and it's Spider-Man. They did all That's what I'm laughing about is robot Spider-Man, but he misses the ship
10:27
because it's moving and he ends up in the water. Oh, there you go. The stuntronic. That
10:32
would work. See, they could have done that. That wouldn't be a waste of money. Stuntronic Spider-Man would have totally
10:37
worked. Oh, well, that that's great. All right, speaking of Spider-Man, we got a first look of the new Spider-Man in
10:43
action. Not new Spider-Man, new Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland in action. and they released a uh it was
10:49
kind of cool. A behind thescenes first day video and like they just started filming.
10:57
Yeah. Like it kind of it's it's a completely different way. And in the video he's talking about how they have fans for the
11:02
first time on their first and you think about it, they've had a lot of inopportune times to film with these
11:09
movies through the last few years because of world events. But um but we
11:14
got a good look at the new Spidey suit, which I think looks amazing. Like it it
11:19
it looks very comic booky to me and I love that. And uh we get to see some sort of an action sequence that's
11:24
happening in this video, which was also a lot of fun. And perhaps the most endearing part of
11:31
all of this was getting to see Tom Holland work with the the fans and with
11:37
the cast, like the crew in the cast that are already I guess crew. They don't show cast members, but um but it was fun
11:43
to see how he interacts with people and just to see it's kind of what you would expect it to be. What did you think of all this?
11:49
I thought it was really neat. Um I will say, and maybe this is unpopular.
11:55
Mhm. I don't know where you go for a Spider-Man movie after No Way Home cuz
12:00
like No Way Home just feels like you kind of already pulled out all the stops. Um I like I obviously storyline I
12:06
know where they go but I'm like you already had that like huge moment. Um
12:13
but I agree with what is saying he is the most Spider-Man to ever well he's the most Peter Parker to ever
12:20
Spider-Man. Um because he is like he's like a very dorky book nerd that just
12:28
wants to like help people and ends up in things way bigger than himself. And like Tom Holland is very like
12:34
that's kind of him. Yeah. Like he can't keep a secret and he knows it's too big for him. Like it's
12:40
can't keep a secret. He loves his fiance like so much. Um all he wants to do is
12:46
be like my fiance is so cool and also Spider-Man and I respect that about him.
12:51
Also, I'm very happy that they're kind of going back to a more
12:58
contained contained story. That's a good word. Um, I don't think every Marvel movie needs
13:04
to be end of the world. It shouldn't be. And I think that's been a challenge is it's and actually it's what I liked
13:10
about Thunderbolts, too, is it kind of was like, oh, it's not a I mean, it could have been if if things kept going,
13:15
but really it was more of a localized story that um focused on people and
13:21
characters as opposed to, oh, the world's about to explode. How many explosions can we throw in? How many heroes can we throw in? because I just
13:28
think at some point it gets to be overwhelming and too much and you have to think too much about the movie rather
13:34
than just enjoying what's right in front of you. That's what I really loved about Spider-Man Homecoming is it was like a very contained like
13:41
there wasn't a portal that opened halfway across the world that
13:47
um uh like the entire like
13:56
that's been my complaint about Marvel movies is that they've always felt too high stakes. Well, lately they've all felt too high stakes except for the one
14:03
that broke that curse. Thunderbolts. That's true. Thunderbolts did not feel I have to stop you.
14:09
Why? It's very important that we say hi to Annie. Annie, do you love Spider-Man?
14:15
Cuz I love Spider-Man, too. There we go. Hi, Annie. Um, but yeah,
14:21
I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. It will be also fun to see uh what the relational components are
14:28
within this this film with the known cast and the unknown cast that are uh
14:34
hinted at. So, it'll be interesting to see. It'll be a lot of fun. Uh, another thing that's coming to theaters very
14:39
soon, in fact, in like three or four weeks is, uh, we now know that Hamilton,
14:44
Hamilton, who started on the, uh, the stage,
14:49
well, started on the page, then went to the stage, started then went to the little screen, started 250 years ago.
14:56
Well, that, too, and and now is going to the silver screen. and they're gonna
15:01
have a special uh featureette that's accompanying this release on September 5th. Uh but
15:10
I think other than seeing this in the actual theater,
15:15
like this is going to be I think this is going to be really really cool. Mainly because when we all got to see it the
15:21
pro shop for the first time, we all saw it in our homes. Like there is something that's going to be so rad about getting
15:28
to do it in a movie theater. The only thing, and this is coming from me, so I need
15:36
everybody listening to put on their listening ears and quiet coyotes. This is not a sing along.
15:43
You know what the problem is, though? Everybody's going to want to sing along. Even more of a problem is when I think
15:48
it was when Lynn was on Oh, did he say people tonight show? He's like, "Let's all go
15:53
out and sing along." Yeah. So, I think Okay. Well, if Len Manuel Miranda said it, then sure. I'm I'm pretty sure we're we're just
15:59
going to have people singing along. So, go to a place when nobody's there or something. I don't know. I'm looking
16:04
forward to hearing it with amazing sound. Like, I think I will be curious the level of
16:12
sound design that's gone into it. like when the bullets and stuff are going off. Yeah.
16:18
Like are you going to hear them go around the room or will it all be more of like a theatrical thing where it's all in front of you? Unless it's Phantom
16:24
of the Opera and then you do hear things around the theater. So, I don't know. Will it be will it be true surround sound or will it be more
16:31
surround but choice, you know, like Yeah. Yeah. Like I'm assuming it's surround sound at
16:37
some level, but will it be an immersive feel or will it just be it surrounded you and you're enveloped? And I'm hoping
16:43
it it moves around and takes you on that kind of audio adventure as you're you're listening.
16:50
And yes, I am okay. Literally, if I hear anyone if I hear anyone sing, I'm
16:57
walking out. If there are no lyrics on the screen, do not sing. This is not a singalong. Do a specific day for it. Normalize sing along specific showing at
17:04
theaters. Like Wicked Wicked had singalong specific days, and that's great. Didn't they do that for Frozen, too?
17:10
I think so. in Encantto. I think part of the reason I'm so upset about this is because when I
17:18
the one singular time I have gotten to see Hamilton live, there were 100% people that thought I was their
17:24
opportunity to sing along a show. And that happens a lot of of shows now. It seems like like I don't know. We need
17:30
to work on the whole etiquette for theater theater etiquette. But you weren't paid to be doing the
17:37
show. Therefore, and I'm not paying you to watch it, but that's okay. All right. Should we keep
17:42
moving forward? I suppose. Okay, let's do that.
18:04
Any reason to bring that back, huh? Yeah, any reason to bring that. It was either that one or it was Only Murders
18:09
in the Studio. Only murders in the studio. And um I actually thought that's what that was at first. It was going to be and then I was like,
18:15
"Oh, wait. We have the one that actually came from the team from Only Murders, so we should use that one from D23." Um we
18:22
got our first trailer for Only Murders in the Building season 5. I thought it
18:28
was awesome. What did you think of it? I love this show because it is so campy
18:36
and so unserious. Like it is a serious show and it is
18:44
like a little dark, but it's never it never takes itself too seriously.
18:50
I think it's funny when you watch it on YouTube or the trailer on YouTube, it has the little like parental guidance.
18:57
Uh, well, because like there's people that are no longer alive and they're and there's there's things that happen
19:03
in the trailer that and like they're trying to figure out if a a body
19:08
at a funeral is missing one of its fingers. Yeah. Like that's what I was talking about. Um Oh, I I was talking about the other
19:14
thing um where they keep trying to hide it. But Oh, that too. I just think like this show is so fun.
19:22
And I know I've said it before, okay, how many murders can there be in one building? It doesn't need to be
19:28
believable. You know what's great though? This isn't Yeah, it doesn't need to be believable. What it does need to be is creative and
19:34
entertaining. And it is. And the big concern I think a lot of us had after season 4 was like,
19:40
"Wow, they've come up with a bunch of different ways for this to happen and still move forward and still be
19:46
entertaining and and not that it's believable, but you just suspend your
19:52
disbelief because you're having a good time." Yeah. So, yes. And over the summer or since the last
19:58
season finished, we're like, "All right, what are they going to do now?" Like, there's no way this is going to be
20:04
unique. and original, still moving forward. And they they seem to have found a way from what
20:11
I can tell. Like the moment they they kind of gave that hook of like, "Oh, this is how we're doing this." I was
20:16
like, "Oh, I'm in." That's the other thing I'm going to agree with Chris here. It
20:23
also will still not be predictable. Yeah. And cuz looking at the cast, there's
20:29
definite certain people in there that you're expecting to be certain things. Well, and there's the thing that Only
20:34
Murders does. How was that for not giving away uh spoilers, but talking
20:39
about Okay, keep going. Um the thing about Only Murders is that
20:45
they're really good at sometimes having red herrings, but sometimes not. So that you can never actually be like, "Oh, that's for sure a red herring." Because
20:52
sometimes they're like, "Oh, no, that was just the answer the whole time." Mhm. The the the thing that they do really
20:57
well is that when there are red herrings and there are misdirects and there are all these things, it never the ending
21:03
never feels like, oh, they just wrote. Yeah. Cuz sometimes like plot twists or
21:09
whatever can come out of total left field and you're like, well, that made no sense for the story. They also don't make you feel dumb. Like they they make
21:17
it like they're not ever going like there's there's nothing like that too, which I
21:22
really appreciate about you're figuring it out with the characters, which is what I always appreciate. And sometimes you're not with some of
21:28
the other characters because not everybody else figures out at the same time. So it's great. I can't wait for this September 9th.
21:33
We'll probably be talking a little bit about it. I don't know. I'm so happy. I don't know if we'll do a weekly talk or not, but it it's very possible it
21:39
will come up. Let us know in the comments if you think that would be fun. Only Murders is like my my fall spooky
21:46
show. Like I just it's fun. I like it. It's going to be fun. It will be. All right. What may or may
21:53
not be fun, I don't actually know what I feel about this yet. Is Disney is saying goodbye to Hulu the app. In 2026,
22:00
it will be incorporated into a unified Disney Plus app with a Hulu Square on
22:06
it. I don't know what this means exactly for live. Like those of us that have Hulu Live, I I presume it'll just be
22:13
incorporated in as well. Um, what do you think of this?
22:21
[Music] I don't like it. Okay. How come we're reinventing cable again?
22:31
Like it it was already enough that they was like, "Oh, it's a bundle." Like ESPN
22:36
and Hulu and Disney Plus. Yay. But now it's like, "No, it's literally the same app." Yippee. And no,
22:43
ESPN DTC will be by itself still. Okay. For now, but I meant like whatever.
22:49
What I don't like, and this is already Maybe I'm just an old bitty.
22:56
Mhm. Clutching my pearls. I don't like when it's like, "Oh, watch The Secret Lives
23:03
of Mormon Wives now on Disney Plus." I'm like, "No, I do think there's a branding. Get that out of here."
23:08
There's a a branding issue. And um Disney traditionally has been associated
23:14
with family-friendly content. And my observation slash concern is that
23:21
might be going away um with Deadpool, with Hulu, with Well, not even that because Deadpool,
23:27
you could make the argument is in a Marvel branded thing. like they it'll be interesting to see if they
23:34
continue to make Disney, you know, Walt Disney Studios, Disney Plus, whatever, a
23:41
hub for familyfriendly stuff and then have the not so family stuff in Marvel
23:47
or Lucas Film or Hulu, you know, things like that. But I do think there's a risk
23:54
because when you get rid of a niche, um it's the whole like when you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing
23:59
nobody. And I do think there is a risk of that. And uh so I will I'll be curious to see how it works
24:06
and how it plays because um I really don't necessarily want to like I like
24:12
segmenting my content. Like I want to know that that you know if you if you go
24:17
back to the cable analogy, I want to know the Food Network's the food network and I want to know that uh PBS is PBS
24:23
and in History Channel is this and Disney Channel is that and you know like I want to know what I'm getting when I
24:29
click onto something and I think there's a risk that you don't get I mean if they
24:36
up their technology who knows but I do think there's that risk and I could be overthinking this too But
24:43
I also just think that Disney Plus has be justice for the scrapped Lizzie Magcguire show. You're real for that. Um
24:50
I do think that there is just a gen a general conversation that happens around Disney Plus. You ask anybody what
24:57
streaming services do you watch the most. Nobody ever says Disney Plus. You go to Disney Plus for something
25:04
specific, but you're not like oh I turn on Disney Plus and I find something to watch. Mhm.
25:09
Uh most people you might be that person and that is so great for you and I love that journey for you. That's awesome.
25:15
But most people are like, "Oh, I'll go to Hulu and find something to watch. I'll go to Netflix." I don't. But you
25:21
might do that. That's cool. Um Prime, but no, like I think that Disney Plus is
25:27
trying to acquire like by merging Hulu into the Disney Plus app. They're like,
25:32
"Ah, well, got you now." Well, and and I think there's ways that they can get
25:38
through that and maybe maybe it's making the
25:45
the squares on the home screen more functional. So like when you click into
25:50
them, you're actually going into like a subsection of the app that's actually completely searchable, lookable, whatever. Um, but
25:59
it just I don't think it's there yet. I think the technolog is not there yet. the uh user user interface isn't there
26:06
yet. And so I'd like to see it get there because the hard part I always have is
26:11
when I go to Disney Plus, I spend so much time looking for what I want or trying to figure out what I want that it
26:17
ends up being easier for me to just go to movies I've already purchased on on Movies Anywhere, Apple TV, whatever it
26:22
is. And also, they take off half the stuff that they put on there in the first place anyway. So, and we need some more old movies. Put
26:29
all those old live action movies on. You have them. Um, Johnny Tmaine's not on. Oh, I thought you were going to go for
26:37
Which one? Boat necks. No, not Boat Necks.
26:43
I don't know which one I'm Wow. Which one am I missing? Your favorite Disney movie. Oh, Follow Me Boys. AB. See, this is the
26:51
problem is I go and buy all these things. So, then it's it's it's like, well, it doesn't matter as much if it's not on
26:56
Disney Plus. All right. Uh, we have gotten, we'll go through this really quickly, the first teaser trailer for
27:02
The Paper, which is the spin-off of The Office. We've gotten to see who is coming along from The Office to The
27:08
Paper. And what do you think of this very quickly? Uh, absolutely lost my mind about Dom Gleason. Um, I literally
27:16
I literally went, "Huh?" Um, um, I am not completely sold on it yet. And
27:22
I I will watch it and I'm going to withhold judgment until then, but I'm still not completely sold on it.
27:28
Here's what I think. What do you think? It needs a second season. Cuz all of these shows, the first season is always
27:34
rough. And if it makes it to the second season, they'll get the fan feedback. They'll figure out what's working,
27:39
what's not working. And and this is actually the challenge of only having 10 episode seasons is you really don't get
27:45
that amount of time to really figure out characters and storylines that work. and
27:50
and you know get that equation put together. But um I'm cautiously optimistic.
27:57
Like I think it could be fun. We'll see. Uh I think I think it'll be a enjoyable enough show. I hope it's a great show. I
28:05
just don't know that that who knows. What's a red flag to me is that the most enjoyable part of the trailer was when
28:11
Oscar showed up. I mean, they played that up really well. Yes. Yes, they did. They did really well.
28:16
All right. Finally, as we come into the home stretch of tonight's show, Destination D23 is just a few weeks
28:23
away. It's August 29th through August 31. I will be there covering the events
28:29
happening at Destination D23. Today, we got a peek at what is coming
28:34
uh specifically on each panel and the the overview of all of that. What do you
28:40
think of what you are seeing so far from Destination D23 and what are you most looking forward to? Um, I uh I think
28:47
it's cool. I think Destination D23 is like a a fun event. Unfortunately, I
28:54
think nothing will ever top the year that they had um Pizzeroo merchandise.
28:59
Um, and I am still angry that I never got a you got uh you got the dough, we
29:06
got the cheese shirt that they were selling that year at Destination. That would have been pretty cool. It's fine. Um, I think the thing I'm
29:12
most excited about actually is the celebration of Cusco because I think Emperor's New Groove is a really fun
29:18
movie and like I grew up with the Emperor's New Groove. Um, I think it's a fun one and I I think it's fun to
29:25
celebrate. Um, I will admit also that's at I believe that's at typhoon. I believe so.
29:31
And uh, a friend from another website, mouseeps.com, Jeff, we love you. um was
29:37
definitely texting with me today, yesterday, I don't remember what day it was, trying to figure out what the DAP's
29:42
look would be in the lazy river, which I hadn't even considered. So, who knows?
29:48
Like, I'm glad he was thinking about it cuz I was more just like on it. I'm like, how am I going to survive the heat? He said, "A waterproof bow tie or
29:57
a I don't know, a disposable bow tie and a waterproof hat, which all of my hats now that I take to
30:04
Florida are always uh anyway, uh we will have some fun coverage. Hopefully
30:11
nothing falls." Uh from destination D23. I'm personally looking forward to
30:17
there's a a panel on the happiest place on earth. Yeah. Creating the happiest place. one
30:22
looks really good. Um because that has Leslie Eyeworks and um Don Han and I just think that's going to be a
30:28
fascinating time conversation. Uh I think looking back at the three Cabaros is going to be great.
30:34
That's a two-parter thing I think as well if I recall. I think the Disney villains Icons of evil will be a lot of
30:41
fun and I think also hearing from Roy P. Disney will be a lot of fun. Oh yeah. among other things. Like I I think
30:47
it looks like it's going to be a Disney historians's uh
30:53
home run, you know, like it looks like and that's stuff I really enjoy. So, I think it'll be a fun uh weekend and
30:58
we'll definitely be talking about that as much as we can. Scotchguard the hat. I just get cheap hats for this stuff and
31:05
and then you don't have to keep them. That's that's the secret. Um but, you know, that's okay. Uh yeah, it'll be
31:12
fun. I think it'll be zero sleep cuz the uh first night we are going to um the
31:18
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party which will be a lot of fun as well. So I will uh try to get some exclusive clips
31:25
for us for uh the Patreon show and then uh also for Geeks Corner and the YouTube
31:31
channel. But I think it's time for some comments
31:40
comments. comments.
31:50
There we go. We have comments. Um, if you have any questions or comments
31:55
you would like us to respond to, let us know in the chat and we will uh respond
32:01
to those in the next few minutes before we head on over to dapsafterdark on patreon.com/dapsmagic.
32:08
I do agree with you, Chris. It is a crime that the Disney Treasures DV. But see, those are the kind of things that I'd really like to see on Disney Plus
32:15
because those used to be the Disney vault first really on Disney Channel and then they were like, "Hey, we could make
32:21
more money off this. We'll put them on the uh put them in those those wonderful uh DVD sets." And and then they just
32:29
kind of went away. And I'm glad I have a few of those, but really we just don't watch DVDs that much anymore. Everything's digitized. So, I would love
32:35
to see a digital version of those, you know, the vault stuff. Remember the Disney vault?
32:41
Yeah, I loved it. Um, it was such good marketing. But like you could even you could even
32:48
have uh you know how they have those live stations now on Disney Plus, which
32:54
makes it even more like traditional TV. But you could have a Disney vault channel that just plays old stuff
33:00
whether it's Math Magic Donald Math Magic Land as I see there from Chris or you know Polyiana Blackbeard's ghost
33:08
ugly ducks and computer war tennis shoes like you could put a ton of those old things and maybe the rule is it has to
33:13
be 30 years or older because there's a ton of stuff with a hundred years of
33:19
content they could be pulling from that would be a lot of fun and you could have a a documentary channel like I just
33:26
It needs to make it easier to find some of the stuff that maybe um
33:32
maybe people would want to uh to dig into and find and and learn more about
33:38
Disney and experience it more. All right. Are we going to get a Disney Plus day again next month or is that done?
33:45
Good question. Haven't thought about that. Wasn't that like September 9th or something or 12th?
33:51
12th. I have not heard a word about that. It's weird to me too that was a September 12th because wasn't it November 12th
33:57
when it was Yeah. originally debuted. So you'd almost think it'd be in November, but I don't know. Good question. Um I feel
34:05
like we'll get something, just not maybe as big as that first year. Um
34:12
Bailey says that she's been saying for years that we need a whole vault section on Disney Plus because it is all
34:18
Disney Plus is very hard to navigate. Yeah. And we're not we're not digging on Disney Plus. It's just it it definitely
34:24
has room for improvement. It's also some of the younger It's one of the younger uh streaming services. I think a lot of streaming services are
34:30
hard to navigate. True. If you've ever watched me like
34:35
honestly that's why I end up going to Amazon Prime a lot though is because they have so many live channels. Yes.
34:41
And they have a channel that almost always has Columbbo on it. So I will go and half the time I watch
34:47
Columbbo because I don't want to have to find something else and I get tired of looking for it. All right. Another
34:53
question from Johnny Grand Calstan. DCL announcements at D23.
35:00
Big eyes. I hope so. Question mark big eyes. That's well for the people that are
35:06
listening to the podcast instead of of just watching. I just did the emoji. Um
35:12
yeah, I I I hope so. Like I hope we get the name of the next ship. Like I think that's coming soon. Um,
35:21
I don't know if it'll be there or if it'll be around it or something. Like I feel like you have to get it soon. I should have gone back and looked when uh
35:28
when new ships usually get their name, but I feel like it's coming soon. I also think it would be very fun on
35:35
Does the maybe DAPs after dark night to make guesses on what the new ship's name
35:40
would be. Does the Destiny have a godmother yet? I don't think so. So maybe they might
35:46
announce a godmother. That's possible, too. I don't know. I'm just thinking of
35:51
things that are in the realm of possibility. It's very possible. Okay. Uh
35:56
I'd bet money of the Discovery. I think that's a good name.
36:02
Okay. So, what about hear me out? Um the next Disney Cruise
36:08
Line ship could also be like the Enterprise. And then another one could be the Cerritos. And then another
36:15
what promos do we expect for Tron Aries? I think we will get a
36:20
I think we get either a featureette or an extended look at I bet we get an extended look at it at D23 cuz um they
36:28
do have a segment that's dedicated to movies so that wouldn't surprise me at all. I've heard of movies before.
36:34
Yeah. Um Y would like to see a Jar Jar Binks walkaround character announcement
36:40
at D23 mayhaps. I feel like that's the one that if that was announced on one of
36:45
the days for this, you should go out and buy a lottery ticket right now. Misa thinks that's a great idea.
36:51
There you go. There you go. I maybe took an an order today in a jar Jarving's voice, but that's neither here
36:57
nor there. All right, we are running out of time. Katie, what do you think people should do? Well, I think Misa thinks you should go
37:04
to dabsmagic.com, check out all the Disney and geek news as it happens. You should subscribe to our mailing list and
37:11
you uh also should subscribe to patreon.com/dapsmagic. Don't make that face.
37:17
patreon.com/dapsmagic. Literally in like fiveish minutes we are going to be doing our post show called Dapsa after dark. It is a lot of fun. Uh
37:25
we get a little crazy over there. So don't miss it. And I will be showing some pictures I took almost 30 years
37:32
ago. It'll be fun. All right. But make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel as
37:37
well so you don't miss any of the videos that we have coming up very soon as we have this weekend OogieOogie bash videos
37:44
that we will be taking and posting. So that's coming very quickly and then it'll go into a bunch of the other fall
37:50
things that we have coming including destination D23. But that is all the time we have for you this week. So we
37:56
will see you around the corner. Bye.
