Fantasound - DISNEY THIS DAY - September 28, 1938

On this day in 1938, the theater sound system created for ‘Fantasia,’ known as “Fantasound” was first tested. It was an early stereophonic sound process that combined four separate audio tracks. Each orchestra section was recorded on separate reels of film. They would be played on 54 speakers positioned around the theater, similar to today's 5.1 surround sound!
