Welcome to Daps Travel. I'm Mr. Daps and
0:09
I'm joined by my good friend Johnny for
0:11
our second time on camera. Shocking. We
0:15
did it.
0:15
>> Yippee.
0:16
>> We survived.
0:18
But we've had a lot happen since the
0:20
last time we recorded, which tends to
0:23
happen and cuz you always have another
0:25
cruise coming. But
0:27
>> well, yes,
0:27
>> we we will keep news about future
0:29
cruises to the end of the the episode
0:32
though because there are new cruises on
0:34
the horizon that we will talk about. But
0:37
um the real episode or the real topic
0:40
for this episode is going to be the
0:42
Disney Magic, which you just went on
0:44
from Galveastston, which I believe it's
0:46
on its way over here now or is over here
0:48
now.
0:48
>> It is. It is currently sailing up the
0:50
Mexican Riviera right now on it way to
0:53
San Diego.
0:53
>> See, I was close. I I pay attention
0:55
sometimes. But um before we get in all
0:57
of that, what should people do with this
1:00
podcast?
1:01
>> I mean, make sure to go ahead and follow
1:03
us on whatever podcast platform you
1:05
listen to. Try to leave us a fivestar
1:07
review because it really helps with our
1:09
ratings and it helps getting us out
1:10
there. And then go ahead and share this
1:13
with any of your friends who might be
1:15
interested or cruising or just want to
1:17
hear about somebody's cruise report.
1:19
>> Yeah. And join the conversation. Do it
1:20
in the comments. Do it on social media.
1:22
We love to geek out about this kind of
1:24
stuff with you and uh and how could you
1:26
not? It's Disney magic. It's a cruise
1:28
literally oceanic.
1:30
>> In this case, you're
1:32
but like it it's it's all of the best of
1:36
vacationing
1:38
blended together like and and with some
1:40
of the newer ships you're even getting
1:41
rid. So,
1:42
>> I'll say that it is the best way that
1:44
you can experience Disney.
1:45
>> There you go.
1:46
>> And that might come as a hot take to
1:47
some people, but cruise line is the best
1:49
way you can experience Disney. If you
1:52
haven't experienced it though, you can't
1:54
really have a take on that. So, you have
1:56
to have been on a Disney cruise and you
1:58
can tell us if Johnny is correct or
2:01
incorrect. And uh I I'd be curious what
2:03
people say about like that's that's an
2:05
interesting take that obviously I don't
2:07
have a opinion on at this point, but
2:10
that's okay. Anyway, you just flew down
2:13
to Galveston a couple weeks ago. Was it
2:14
a week and a half ago? Two weeks ago?
2:16
>> It was a week and a half ago. Yeah.
2:17
>> Yeah. I was like, it seems like just
2:18
yesterday, but um this is the problem
2:20
with technology.
2:22
We text almost all the time.
2:24
>> I was I was texting the entire time I
2:26
was on the ship, too, because I was
2:27
like, "Look at this. Look at all these
2:29
things." And I'm just like, "Oh my god,
2:30
it's noon. You get to hear the horn
2:31
now."
2:32
>> Exactly. And and it was a blast. But uh
2:36
>> you flew down to Galveston, which I love
2:38
Galveston. I think it's a fun area.
2:40
Actually, I love Houston in that area,
2:42
too. Um and then you got to go on the
2:46
Disney Magic. It was a week-long cruise,
2:48
I believe.
2:49
>> Yes, it was a seven night Western
2:50
Caribbean cruise stopping in Kosumel,
2:53
Grand Cayman, and Progresso.
2:55
>> Awesome. So, let's get started with the
2:58
experience because you've now been on
3:00
how many ships?
3:01
>> Four. So, I've been on four cruises and
3:03
all of them have been on different
3:04
ships.
3:05
>> So, all the ships you've been on so far
3:07
are
3:07
>> I've been on the Disney Fantasy, Disney
3:10
Wonder, Disney Wish, and now the Disney
3:12
Magic.
3:13
>> Okay. and you show up at the port, you
3:16
see the Disney Magic. What are your
3:18
first thoughts?
3:21
>> I loved her. I mean, the Disney Wonder,
3:24
it's so the Magic is the very first ship
3:26
in the fleet, and the Wonder is her
3:28
sister ship. So, having been on the
3:30
Wonder in the past, I already knew what
3:31
to expect in regards to size of the
3:34
vessel and everything. So when we were
3:36
driving down the bus to the Galveastston
3:38
Wars where the pier is, you could see it
3:40
in the horizon and I just couldn't help
3:42
but having a big old smile on my face
3:44
because you can see the red funnels. You
3:46
can just see the profile of the ship and
3:47
it was just so exciting.
3:49
>> Were there other ships in port when you
3:51
came in? Like were there
3:52
>> there was Carnival or something?
3:54
>> There was a Carnival one and a Royal
3:57
Caribbean one.
3:58
>> Okay. So you could tell the difference
3:59
in size of ships and color. I think in
4:02
many
4:03
>> you could very much tell the difference.
4:05
The Disney one in the best way possible
4:07
stuck out like a sore thumb because it
4:09
just it has that classic oceanliner
4:12
charm that the other two simply just
4:15
didn't. The other two kind of looked
4:16
like an amalgamation of like Legos that
4:18
you would put together.
4:20
>> You know what the analogy in my head as
4:22
you were speaking right there? It
4:25
reminds me of the old Magical Express
4:27
buses versus the normal button. That is
4:30
That is such a good way to put it. That
4:32
is such a perfect way to put it where
4:33
you just have one where it's the Magical
4:35
Express where it has the decals
4:37
>> and it looks nice and pretty and you're
4:38
so happy seeing it and then you just see
4:40
a regular motor coach and you're like,
4:42
>> "Oh, please bring it back.
4:44
>> We would use this." Yeah, we would use
4:46
it.
4:46
>> I'm just begging you. Please bring back
4:47
the Magical Express. I would love
4:49
nothing more than to have a nice little
4:50
bus just transport me to my resort hotel
4:52
and then drop on the Magical Express is
4:55
such a happy way to start your trip.
4:57
>> Yeah. Anyway, this that's not what this
5:00
episode's about. Uh it is about the
5:02
magic, not the magical express. And so
5:04
you you get down there, you see the
5:06
ship, it's beautiful. Uh talk about the
5:09
embarcation process. Like cuz not all
5:13
embarcations are created equal. Like
5:15
even between different royal
5:18
destinations I've been at and different
5:20
princess places, I've noticed different
5:23
ports have different procedures and
5:25
feels and whatever. How did it go?
5:28
>> Galveastston was probably the smoothest
5:30
embarcation that I have ever had.
5:31
>> Nice.
5:32
>> Even smoother than Port Canaveral. And
5:34
that was really surprising because
5:35
Disney is a welloiled machine at Port
5:37
Canaveral. I think what part of it had
5:40
to do with it was our transportation
5:41
because we were staying in the Houston
5:43
area at the Houston Marriott, which I
5:46
did not have the most pleasant
5:48
experience at, but we're not going to
5:49
let that detract from the fact I was on
5:50
a cruise. We boarded the bus and the bus
5:53
left I would say at around 9:30ish
5:58
and it took about an hour and a half to
6:00
get to the port and our port arrival
6:03
time because we were concierge started
6:04
at 11:00 a.m. So that's when they
6:06
started bringing guests and everybody on
6:08
the ship.
6:08
>> So when we got there we got to bypass a
6:11
couple of the lines they had for port
6:12
arrival times for 11:15 and 11:30. And
6:15
we just got to walk through that. We
6:17
walked through security and by the time
6:18
we had cleared security, they had just
6:21
cleared the Disney magic to go ahead and
6:23
start embarking guests in boarding group
6:24
one, which we were.
6:25
>> Oh, so perfect. We heard the
6:27
announcement. We had just cleared the
6:29
full check-in process. So, we took the
6:30
escalator up to the ship and we were on
6:33
board. Literally, I'd say it was like
6:35
>> from when we got dropped off to there,
6:37
seven minutes total, and it was just
6:39
walking. So, for those who haven't done
6:40
this before, what do you need to do to
6:43
check in at the at the gate or at the
6:47
>> So, when you're checking in for your
6:48
cruise
6:48
>> and then also security,
6:49
>> when you check in for your cruise,
6:50
you're going to want to make sure that
6:51
you have your passport or birth
6:54
certificate, whatever form of
6:55
documentation you used in your online
6:57
check-in. And then you are going to want
6:59
to have your port arrival form. It is
7:01
super super important to arrive at the
7:03
time designated on your port arrival
7:05
form. If you arrive earlier than that,
7:08
they might deny you entry into the port.
7:11
Once you get your port arrival form and
7:13
everything ready, they're going to go
7:14
ahead and have you wait in the
7:15
designated line for your port arrival
7:16
time. Once that time hits, they will go
7:19
ahead and send you up into the terminal
7:21
so you can go ahead and speak with a
7:23
crew member and they verify all of your
7:24
travel documentations and your port
7:26
arrival form and then you go ahead and
7:29
wait in your terminal.
7:31
>> Exactly.
7:31
>> Yeah. I was like, that's that's what
7:33
normally happens. Uh, it it kind of
7:35
reminds me of the um virtual queue for
7:38
like Rise of the Resistance back in the
7:41
day with you come in this window and and
7:44
if you come earlier, too bad. Um, it is
7:46
really like that. I've seen people kind
7:48
of be upset with the port arrival time
7:50
process and whatnot, but I assure you it
7:52
is put in place to make it a smooth
7:54
process because the capacity of the
7:56
Disney Magic is around 2,700 guests.
7:58
Could you imagine 2,700 guests arriving
8:01
at different times whenever they wanted
8:03
to trying to check in go through a
8:06
customs process
8:07
>> and how many doors do they get to walk
8:08
through? Like when you're boarding the
8:10
ship, is it just a couple or one or
8:12
>> It's just two.
8:13
>> Okay, so there you go. You don't want
8:15
2,700 people flooding at this door at
8:17
the same time. It's not going to work.
8:19
And um yeah, and and I think the thing
8:22
people don't realize with this is the
8:25
structure actually makes things go
8:27
faster. So, yes, you're not the first,
8:30
you know, you're not at 11:00 a.m.,
8:32
maybe you're at 12:30 or something, but
8:34
if everybody was showing up at 11, you'd
8:36
end up waiting longer anyway. And and so
8:39
it really does, it benefits people to
8:41
follow the structure as it as it moves
8:43
forward. Uh, so you go through all that,
8:45
you board the ship, what is your first
8:46
thought as you walk on board?
8:49
She's so cute. I loved her. Walking into
8:54
the Disney Magic, it's the exact same
8:55
feeling that I got walking into the
8:56
Disney Wonder where it's like you're
8:59
transported back in time. Because when a
9:01
lot of people think of Disney now, they
9:03
think of very large, grand, super
9:06
IPoriented and well themed immersive
9:09
spaces. And what I love, love, love so
9:12
much about the four classic ships is
9:14
that they have that perfect combination
9:16
of that beautiful maritime luxury that
9:20
an old cruise liner has combined with
9:22
those subtle Disney touches. So, walking
9:25
in, you walk into the intimate little
9:26
atrium. I see Helmsman Mickey on the
9:28
statue over there on the pedestal where
9:30
it says Disney magic. I look up and see
9:33
the beautiful atrium chandelier. They
9:35
can see the midship elevator bank with
9:38
all the moving up and down because there
9:40
are full glass panes there where you
9:41
could see it. It was just beautiful.
9:44
>> And people like that, don't they? Like
9:46
the the elevators there. And I love it
9:48
because even just having something as
9:50
small as having the elevators there, it
9:51
has this beautiful kinetic energy about
9:53
it where you can see this movement. Your
9:55
eye is drawn up and down. You can see
9:57
these small little detailings like going
9:59
up the stairs and on the railing. You
10:01
can see the iron inlay of all the
10:04
characters there on the side of it.
10:06
>> So, it's just super super pretty. I
10:09
loved it.
10:10
>> So, your first day you have to do
10:11
mustering, you get lunch, I presume. Uh
10:15
what what does that first day really
10:16
look like before they head out of
10:18
Galveston? So for us, because we were
10:20
concierge, we got to go to the sitdown
10:23
concier lunch in Lumiere. But if you're
10:25
not sailing concierge, you have the
10:26
option to go ahead and dine in
10:28
Rapunzel's Royal Table for a sit down
10:30
dinner or sit down lunch. You have the
10:32
option of going to Cabanas for the
10:34
buffet for lunch or going out to get
10:36
deck food. So there's a plethora of
10:38
different options for you to go ahead
10:39
and choose.
10:39
>> And of those three, which one's your
10:41
favorite?
10:42
I personally have only experienced the
10:43
sit down lunch for concier. But even
10:45
>> but like have you just walked down ever
10:47
and like eaten at cabanas or
10:49
>> I've eaten at cabanas on a regular day.
10:52
I don't think I would do it on
10:53
imbarcation day because
10:55
>> everybody and their mother is over
10:56
there.
10:56
>> So go to Tiana's.
10:58
>> Yeah.
10:58
>> Okay.
10:59
>> I would go ahead because even though it
11:01
is slower, it's like a slower pace, it
11:03
gives you that time to kind of just get
11:05
composed, savor the moment, and really
11:08
just take in the fact that you're on
11:09
this beautiful vessel. And for a week-l
11:10
long trip, it's not like you have to
11:12
rush to explore every nook and cranny
11:13
cuz you're going to have sea days to do
11:15
that.
11:16
>> That is very true.
11:16
>> Um, at least I presume. Uh, so you enjoy
11:19
lunch. When was your muster? How did
11:21
that go on a smaller ship?
11:23
>> Muster drill was pretty standard for
11:26
what it was. We were assembly station J.
11:28
So we were out on the deck 4 prominade
11:31
port side right around the where the
11:33
midship elevators are. We lined up there
11:35
at our designated time. Every one of the
11:38
guests in our stateateroom had to scan
11:39
our key to the world card in because
11:40
they need to ensure they're accounting
11:42
for every single guest that shows up
11:43
there.
11:44
>> They went through the process and kind
11:46
of whenever did everything and then when
11:49
the drill was complete, we headed up to
11:50
the open deck for the sail away party.
11:52
>> All right, talk about the sailway party
11:54
because that's that's fun. I think
11:56
>> I love the sail away party. It is
11:59
>> different on each ship, right? Or is it
12:01
similar but different or is it
12:02
>> It's a similar concept.
12:04
>> Okay. Different ships have different
12:05
songs that go along with it though.
12:07
>> Cool. Cool.
12:07
>> So, the show on the Magic and Wonder
12:10
actually has the song from Mickey's Mix
12:13
Magic.
12:14
>> Oh, okay.
12:15
>> Which is Put your ears on. It's a good
12:17
good good time. Don't remind me, but
12:20
yeah.
12:22
>> Tangent. I just hate that show at
12:23
Disneyland. But anyway,
12:25
>> you love it on on the magic.
12:26
>> I did love it on the magic. So, it
12:29
redeemed itself just a little bit. But
12:31
you have that and then you have the sail
12:34
away party on the dream and fantasy
12:35
which is amazing. And then my favorite
12:37
sail away party probably has to be on
12:38
the wish. The wish's sail away party was
12:40
just chef kiss.
12:42
>> So Mickey mini dance. They have the
12:44
song.
12:45
>> They have the song. There's a bunch of
12:46
different characters out there. It's
12:47
just a fun little dance party. They have
12:49
the cruise director coming out to go
12:50
ahead and do everything. I would say
12:53
>> the actual thing itself was maybe like
12:55
10ish minutes and then they had like a
12:56
little like dance party for the kids
12:58
afterwards.
12:58
>> Okay. But the best part about it is when
13:01
the cruise director's coming out there
13:02
and then you count down to starting your
13:03
vacation. So they count down from five
13:05
to sound the ship's horn.
13:06
>> Oh, that's fun.
13:08
>> And it's just great doing that because
13:10
it's like that moment where you're just
13:11
like you are on vacation. You are on the
13:14
ship. This is going to be the triple
13:15
>> like this.
13:17
>> Uh does it still even with the countdown
13:19
do like people get surprised by it or
13:21
jump by how loud it is or whatever?
13:23
>> Oh yeah. Especially
13:24
>> cuz that could be really funny. There
13:26
were times even when we were just at sea
13:28
and it's at noon every sea day where the
13:32
ship's horn sounds.
13:34
>> I always forget where the horn is placed
13:35
on the Magic and the Wonder though
13:37
because it's right above where the
13:38
concier lounge is. So you'll be in there
13:40
and you'll hear and you're like
13:42
>> so it's loud even inside.
13:43
>> Oh yeah.
13:44
>> Okay.
13:44
>> Oh no, it is loud.
13:45
>> Very cool. Uh cuz sometimes like the
13:47
bigger ships you don't even notice it
13:48
when you're inside. I don't know about
13:50
non-D Disney, but or I mean I know about
13:52
Disney, but
13:53
>> Oh, I can tell you on the wish and on
13:55
the fantasy, you can still hear it.
13:56
>> You can still hear it. Okay, there we
13:58
go. Um, so you do that. What'd you do
14:01
with the rest of your day?
14:03
>> Kind of just relax, wandered around the
14:05
ship. I always make it a point when
14:07
we're sailing concierge to go ahead and
14:09
just try to get to know the host because
14:11
they're going to be the
14:12
>> Yeah.
14:12
>> crew members you're going to be
14:13
interacting with the most throughout
14:14
your voyage. So, it was just really nice
14:17
talking with them, like hearing about
14:18
their background, how long they've been
14:19
with DCL and whatnot. One of the hosts
14:22
that we had on the Disney Magic was
14:24
actually the concierge host we had on
14:26
the Disney Fantasy, our very first
14:28
cruise.
14:29
>> And when we were embarking the ship, she
14:31
saw us and she was like, "I know you.
14:35
>> That's fun."
14:36
>> And it it caught me off guard and then I
14:38
recognized it was Eevee and it was just
14:39
it was perfect. It was just full circle.
14:42
It was such a good moment. Like whenever
14:43
you go into the Disney parks and you
14:46
see, you know, cast members that you've
14:48
seen over time and they recognize you.
14:49
It was just those small little moments
14:50
like that that make such a big
14:52
difference. And it was just such a
14:53
>> It was such an amazing way to start off
14:54
the ship.
14:55
>> That's awesome.
14:56
>> Like this cruise.
14:57
>> So there's different dining options on
15:00
different ships. So what were your
15:01
dining options on the Magic and then
15:04
which one was your favorite? So, the
15:05
three rotational dining options on the
15:07
Magic are going to be Lumiere's, which
15:09
is going to be the restaurant on deck 3
15:11
midship right off of the atrium. That's
15:13
going to be the more French inspired
15:15
restaurant based off the name Lumier.
15:18
It's very Beauty and the Beast themed.
15:20
>> You also have Rapunzel's Royal Table on
15:23
deck 3 aft, which is going to be your
15:26
kind of like dinner theater type
15:28
restaurant.
15:29
>> That was my personal favorite out of all
15:31
them. The food there was phenomenal. The
15:34
shows there were amazing. I just loved
15:36
every little bit of it. I It was just
15:38
great. And then you have Animator's
15:40
Palette, which is a staple on all four
15:42
of the classic shows.
15:44
>> Uh, which one was you said? Rapunzel's
15:46
was your favorite. Was it your favorite
15:48
food also?
15:49
>> Oh, easily. Rapunzel's
15:51
>> Rapunzel's food was Everything I had was
15:55
just great. There wasn't even something
15:57
that I would just consider good or okay.
15:59
Every item I had was great. And for all
16:02
three of us.
16:02
>> Cool. Cool. It was really good.
16:04
>> There's other restaurants and places to
16:06
eat though aboard the ship. So, where
16:07
else could you have eaten? Or did you
16:09
eat?
16:09
>> So, I also made sure to go ahead up to
16:12
deck 9 to go ahead and have the deck
16:14
food. That was phenomenal. I mean, who
16:16
doesn't love chicken tendies? I just
16:18
love being able to walk up to
16:21
>> How long does it take
16:23
and are they like a buffet thing or do
16:25
you order them? Are they made to order
16:27
or
16:27
>> So, they pretty It's kind of like a
16:29
buffet. Think of it like quick service
16:31
where they have everything already like
16:32
pre-batched, pre-made, but they go ahead
16:34
and serve it individually. So, it's like
16:35
in a hot holding container.
16:37
>> Okay.
16:37
>> But it's all really good. I don't know
16:39
how they get the burgers to taste so
16:41
good, too, because they have the patties
16:42
and everything, the cheese already
16:43
melted on it, and they just prep it, but
16:45
it's so good.
16:46
>> Had Disney magic. Uh, did you eat at
16:50
specialty restaurants or
16:53
>> Yes, I ate at Palo three times
16:57
throughout my voyage. Okay.
17:00
>> And every time was just fantastic.
17:04
>> Did you like that better than
17:05
Rapunzel's?
17:06
>> Oh, obviously.
17:07
>> Okay. Wait, you said
17:09
>> Paulo Paulo was just
17:11
>> Paulo is just so good. Paulo's that
17:12
girl. I love it. We did dinner twice and
17:15
we did brunch once.
17:17
>> It was just amazing. I am a fan. And
17:19
this again might be a hot take. I prefer
17:21
Po Brunch over Po Dinner
17:24
>> just because I love my good little eggs
17:27
benedict. I love the pancakes that they
17:28
have there. And I just love all of the
17:30
different options that they have. Dinner
17:32
is still fantastic. It is a phenomenal
17:34
experience. Very, very good Italian
17:36
food, very good pasta, just good quality
17:39
food, but I just love I just love a
17:42
brunch moment, too.
17:43
>> There you go. There you go. Um, talk
17:45
about the other amenities that were on
17:46
the ship that you could enjoy throughout
17:48
the week.
17:49
>> I absolutely loved going to the Quiet
17:52
Cove Adult Pool. I will die on the hill
17:55
that the magic class ships have the best
17:58
adult only area for the open deck area
18:01
because you had a deep pool that you
18:04
could go ahead and get in. It was like 5
18:05
1/2 ft deep. So, I was able to stand in
18:08
it and have a majority of my body be
18:10
underwater. It was just so nice and
18:12
relaxing over there. They had two
18:14
whirlpool spas to go ahead and sit in.
18:16
They had a nice bar.
18:18
>> It is actually going to be a little bit
18:20
forward of it's like kind of like
18:21
midforward area. Okay.
18:23
>> So, the best way I can describe it is
18:24
because from the concier lounge, the
18:26
concier lounge actually looks into the
18:27
quiet cove area.
18:28
>> Oh, interesting.
18:29
>> So, you have the concier lounge on deck
18:31
10 and it has the windows that flank the
18:33
front of it and from there you're
18:34
looking into the quiet cove area.
18:36
>> Interesting.
18:37
>> Very, very nice. They just had peaceful
18:38
serene music around the whole thing. And
18:40
it was such a nice escape from the
18:42
hustle and bustle of the main pool deck
18:44
with all the kids running around. And I
18:46
said it was like kids soup because
18:49
there's just a bunch of kids in there
18:50
just in the water. And I'm like,
18:51
>> that makes sense. Can you can you walk
18:53
around this to go to the front or like
18:56
what's on that deck?
18:57
>> So, in the quiet cove area, it's going
19:00
to be a lot of open seating and you're
19:02
going to have various chairs and
19:03
everything over there to where you can
19:05
go ahead and sit down and enjoy your
19:06
coffee from Cove Cafe. You're going to
19:09
have like full-on lounge seating where
19:10
you could go ahead and lie down on a
19:12
padded lounger in the sun. And then
19:14
you're going to have access through into
19:16
the forward area of the ship where the
19:17
census spa is going to be and that's
19:19
where the gym will be as well. Oh, okay.
19:21
So, there's no reason really for kids to
19:23
go.
19:24
>> There's really no reason for kids to be
19:26
going over there.
19:27
>> And there are kids areas for them to
19:29
enjoy.
19:30
>> There are there's so much it seems like.
19:31
>> I do have to say I did see kids kind of
19:33
like wandering through the area getting
19:35
from destination to destination. And for
19:37
example, if a kid happened to take the
19:39
elevator bank up to deck 9 forward, I
19:41
would see them walking across there,
19:43
>> but they weren't rambunctious. They
19:44
weren't rude or doing anything. It was
19:46
just like they were just passing
19:47
through.
19:48
>> Okay. Okay. And it was it was just
19:50
really really nice. And then they had
19:51
this nice little bar called Signals over
19:54
there where you could go ahead and get a
19:56
little drink and go ahead and just sit
19:57
back and enjoy the ambiance. It's just
20:00
>> beautiful.
20:00
>> Very cool. Um, what else? If you're
20:03
wandering around the ship and you're
20:04
looking for something to do, what else
20:06
could you do? Like I know you went to a
20:08
piano bar.
20:10
I love the piano bar. The piano player
20:12
that was playing on the Disney Magic for
20:15
Our Sailing, Lenora, she was fantastic.
20:18
She was amazing. The Piano Bar Keys is
20:21
actually located in deck 3 forward in
20:23
the after hours area which is another
20:25
part of the adult only venues.
20:27
>> Mhm.
20:28
>> So it was really really nice.
20:29
>> And is that something that like during
20:30
the day it's not adult only and then at
20:32
night it
20:33
>> correct.
20:33
>> What time does that happen?
20:34
>> I'd say at night normally around like 9
20:36
to 10.
20:37
>> Okay.
20:37
>> And then from 10 to 1 it's pretty much
20:40
strictly adults only. They have Fathoms
20:43
which is going to be more of like a
20:44
nightclub space where they have a bar in
20:45
there and it's kind of like a mixeduse
20:47
area. They do a bunch of different shows
20:48
in there. We got to see Match Your Mate,
20:50
which is the newlywood show. That one is
20:52
always so funny to watch. Never, never
20:54
miss it. And then we got to go do
20:57
various trivia and like adult only
20:59
crafts in Ogills, which is going to be
21:02
the pub on board.
21:03
>> Yeah.
21:04
>> Super, super nice. It was a lot of fun.
21:05
But I myself was in Keys for a lot of
21:07
that voyage because there's just nothing
21:08
better than late at night just sitting
21:11
there in the piano bar just kind of like
21:13
mingling with other guests that you meet
21:15
on board, whatnot. It's kind of like
21:16
their time away from their kids because
21:18
they have the kids off in the Oceaner
21:20
Club or Oceaner Lab doing their own
21:22
thing. And it was just nice interacting
21:24
with all the different people down
21:26
there, seeing where everybody's coming
21:27
from and kind of having this nice shared
21:29
experience over some good cocktails and
21:30
some good music.
21:31
>> And you said it the pub was called
21:33
Ogills. Yeah. Like Darby Ogill and Yes.
21:36
That's awesome. Um Sean Connory, he
21:39
became James Bond because of that movie.
21:42
Uh there's there's your side trivia of
21:44
the day. Uh, there are also shows.
21:48
>> Yes.
21:48
>> So, what shows does this ship have?
21:51
>> So, you have the Pirate Night show,
21:52
which is going to be the deck show for
21:54
Pirate Night.
21:55
>> Okay.
21:55
>> And that's going to be on the open deck
21:57
when they have the fireworks and
21:58
whatnot. Super.
21:59
>> Now, is that something that every ship
22:01
basically has the same Pirate Knight or
22:03
does it
22:04
>> So, every ship has Pirate Knight.
22:06
However, there are different variations
22:07
of the Pirate Knight show on various
22:09
ships.
22:10
>> Okay. I think from what I was even
22:12
reading online, the wonder does a
22:13
different version of the pirate night
22:15
show versus what the magic does. So,
22:17
>> and does when it turns to the fireworks
22:20
part, does that change or is it the
22:21
same?
22:21
>> To the best of my knowledge, the
22:22
fireworks portion is the same. It is the
22:24
actual like stage show portion of it
22:26
that is different.
22:28
>> Interesting.
22:28
>> So, you have that and then one of my
22:30
favorite things about Disney Cruise Line
22:32
is the caliber of stage shows that they
22:34
have because you have three separate
22:36
shows at the Walt Disney Theater. We saw
22:39
Twice Charmed, which is a twist on the
22:41
Cinderella story. I got to see Disney
22:44
Dreams and Enchanted Classic, which is
22:46
the signature like variety show for the
22:49
Magic and Wonder. And then we also got
22:51
to see Tangled the musical.
22:52
>> That'd be fun.
22:53
>> Which one of the three was your
22:55
favorite?
22:56
>> Tangled. Tangled. I was going to say
22:58
Disney Dreams, but I just I love Disney
23:00
Dreams already, but for a ship specific
23:02
show, Tangled was just so so good.
23:06
>> Cool. They were able to compress the
23:07
story enough to where they were able to
23:10
get all the good songs in, all the good
23:11
music, and it was just very like
23:14
very well paced for it only being I
23:17
think it was like an hour and 15
23:19
minutes.
23:19
>> That was my next question. Like, is it
23:20
like Vegas where they like shorten the
23:22
show?
23:23
>> It is shortened, but I would say it
23:25
still comes off like you you're watching
23:27
the full movie. You get the whole story
23:28
line from the movie. So it's it's longer
23:30
than you know when they did Hyperion the
23:33
theater like Aladdin or Frozen but it's
23:36
not like a full Broadway. It's somewhere
23:38
in the middle of
23:39
>> Yes, it's a good in the middle but you
23:40
do get that Broadway quality acting and
23:43
that Broadway quality um
23:45
>> show performance. It is amazing.
23:48
>> So I'm I'm assuming if this is like most
23:50
ships I've been on. This is in towards
23:52
the front of the boat. And is this
23:54
correct?
23:55
>> Yes. The Walt Disney Theater is going to
23:57
be deck four forward.
23:58
>> Did you feel or notice any waves as you
24:01
were going through?
24:03
>> Oh, yeah.
24:03
>> Like because I'm always amused when on
24:06
other ships I've been in in other shows
24:07
which are not Disney shows, but they're
24:09
still fun is watching people do these
24:12
dances and tricks and choreography as as
24:15
the ships going, you know, like Oh, no.
24:16
You could. It was actually funny because
24:18
we were watching Twice Charm because we
24:20
had three sea days on this voyage. So,
24:22
we had the theatrical performances done
24:23
on each sea day. M our first C day when
24:26
we were watching Twice Charmed, the show
24:27
got interrupted twice. We don't know. I
24:30
don't know what the reason was, but all
24:32
I saw is they cut the show and then you
24:33
could see a red light flashing on top of
24:35
where the over there. So, I'm assuming
24:37
it was like a technical error or
24:39
something to do with the mechanics that
24:40
they use for the performance.
24:42
>> Sure.
24:43
>> But so that got interrupted, but you
24:45
could definitely feel the ship moving
24:47
while we were crossing the Gulf of
24:48
Mexico. It wasn't to the point where
24:51
people were getting motions sickness,
24:52
but you could definitely feel the vessel
24:53
moving in the water.
24:54
>> That's fun. I I always enjoy that. Um,
24:57
so you did that. You uh you also went to
25:01
What were your three stops again?
25:02
>> Kosumel, Grand Cayman, and Progresso
25:05
>> in that order.
25:06
>> Yes.
25:06
>> So, how why don't you talk about each of
25:08
those real quick?
25:09
>> Kosomel was actually really really fun.
25:11
We initially booked an off-road like ATV
25:16
excursion over on Kosamel and come to
25:18
find out when we embarked the ship that
25:20
was removed from our plans within the
25:22
Navigator app. So I went to concierge to
25:24
ask why and they notified us that the
25:26
tour operator canled those bookings
25:28
>> due to a lack of guest booking for it
25:31
which oh
25:32
>> makes sense
25:32
>> I guess
25:33
>> cuz we were the only three people that
25:34
booked it. So I guess they didn't want
25:36
to have to go ahead and do all that just
25:38
for three guests which was again
25:39
understandable. We were able to book a
25:41
similar excursion where we actually go
25:44
got to go ride some razors out to a
25:46
cenote over in quite literally the
25:48
middle of the jungle. Wow. So, that was
25:51
probably the most adventurous port
25:52
adventure that we had this trip.
25:54
>> Okay. It was a lot of fun being able to
25:56
go ahead and see the cenote and go ahead
26:00
and be off-roading. We were off-roading
26:01
for like a good 20 minutes in each
26:04
direction to it.
26:05
>> And then there was like lunch or
26:06
something in the middle or or what do
26:07
they do?
26:08
>> Not really lunch or anything in the
26:09
middle. We actually kind of just ate
26:11
when we got back on the ship.
26:12
>> Oh, okay. Okay.
26:13
>> Kosamel was weird because we were in
26:14
port from 10:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. So, it
26:17
was kind of like weird like in the
26:19
middle of the day type thing where it's
26:20
like
26:21
>> not really for lunchtime because it was
26:23
kind of like late after breakfast.
26:25
>> But, it was really fun. We really
26:27
enjoyed our time there. We got some
26:29
souvenirs over from where they had the
26:33
excursion at cuz the excursion was, I'd
26:34
say, a good 30 minutes away from where
26:36
the port was.
26:37
>> Oh, okay.
26:38
>> So, yeah. Yeah, I want to see.
26:39
>> And where was the port for that? Cuz if
26:40
I recall, different ships had their
26:42
almost like their own ports a little
26:44
bit.
26:44
>> We were Kosuml has two areas where ships
26:46
can birth. We were birthed in the
26:47
northern portion of it. It was called
26:48
Punta Langosta.
26:51
>> So we were over there. It was it was a
26:53
nice little like kind of shopping area.
26:55
So if you wanted to go ahead and go
26:56
shopping or go ahead and just check out
26:58
some of the stuff they had there, it was
26:59
really nice and it was welldeveloped.
27:00
>> Nice.
27:01
>> So really cool being over there. But
27:03
Kosuml was amazing. Next time I go back
27:06
there, I'm definitely going to want to
27:07
do something more like beach related and
27:09
check out the beaches there because I
27:10
know Kosuma is known for beautiful,
27:12
beautiful sand beaches.
27:13
>> I mean, it looks like it from what I
27:15
saw. All right, next stop.
27:17
>> Next stop is Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman
27:20
was a fun port because it's a tender
27:22
port.
27:23
>> So, all the ships that go over there,
27:25
fact,
27:25
>> you told me it was a tender port. I'm
27:26
like, yes, that's the best. It was
27:29
really cool because the ship dropped
27:30
anchor a little bit offshore because
27:33
there are these beautiful coral reefs
27:34
that are around that surround the Cayman
27:36
Islands. So to avoid dredging them, all
27:38
the ships have to tender.
27:39
>> Mhm.
27:40
>> And the tendering process was simple
27:41
because we had a port adventure already
27:43
booked through Disney Cruise Line. We
27:44
met in our designated area for it. Once
27:47
we were all checked in, we waited for
27:48
all the other guests to be checked in
27:49
and they walked us down to the gang way
27:51
on deck one
27:52
>> and we got to board the tender boat from
27:54
there.
27:54
>> Nice. And it was really cool taking the
27:56
tender boat out from where the ship was
27:58
and you could just kind of like see it
28:00
disappear. I was able to get a couple
28:01
cool pictures of what the Disney Magic
28:03
looked like just floating out in the
28:04
free water.
28:05
>> Did they use uh one of the Magic's
28:08
tender boats or was it something that
28:10
they'd hired from?
28:12
>> So it's something that they hired from
28:13
shore. They actually have teams over at
28:15
Grand Cayman because Grand Cayman is a
28:18
very very heavy port for tourism.
28:20
>> Yeah. It's like Cabo.
28:22
>> Yeah. So they have all of they have
28:23
tender boat operators that are over
28:25
there.
28:26
>> Yeah. I don't even think for most of
28:28
them I don't think that DCL actually
28:30
uses their life rafts or anything like
28:32
that for tendering during this process
28:33
to the best of my knowledge.
28:35
>> There we go. Cool. So uh you get off the
28:38
the ship, you you go in then what
28:41
happens?
28:41
>> And then we checked in for our adventure
28:44
once we had got there on land. They
28:46
waited for all of us and we got to go on
28:49
a nice little private bus over to a
28:51
separate boat because we went over to
28:53
Kaibbo Beach which is on the northshore
28:56
of Grand Cayman. It was super nice being
28:59
over there. It was this was our beach
29:01
day that we decided on because we wanted
29:03
something that was kind of like
29:04
semi-private whatnot. So, it was a nice
29:05
little resort on the northshore. So, we
29:08
got to go ahead and just like relax in
29:10
the sun, have a nice padded little
29:12
lounger cabana that we found over there
29:14
that was complimentary. We didn't have
29:16
to go ahead and pay extra for it.
29:18
>> And we got to eat some delicious food
29:20
over there at the Kaibbo restaurant at
29:22
this resort. So, it was nice. We were
29:24
there for a good like I'd say three
29:26
hours.
29:26
>> Mhm.
29:27
>> Or so before we got to hop on that other
29:30
little boat to go all the way across the
29:32
sound. And it was cool going across the
29:33
sound cuz it was like it was again it
29:35
was a 20-minute boat ride across the
29:36
sound and back. So, you kind of just got
29:38
to be out on the water and just enjoying
29:41
everything that it had over there. It
29:42
was amazing.
29:44
>> That's awesome. And then third
29:46
destination.
29:46
>> Third destination was Progresso. And
29:49
boy, do I have a story.
29:50
>> I know.
29:53
So, the entire reason why we booked this
29:55
cruise is because we wanted to go see
29:57
Chichinita. Because in the port of
29:59
Progresso, you have the opportunity to
30:01
book port adventures to take you out
30:04
into the Yucatan Peninsula and go see
30:06
Chichinita, one of the seven wonders of
30:09
the ancient world. We were so excited to
30:12
do this.
30:12
>> It's on my bucket list. Like, I really
30:14
want to go there someday.
30:15
>> It was on my It's on my bucket list.
30:17
It's on both my parents bucket list. We
30:18
were all just very excited to go there.
30:20
And when we found out that Disney Cruise
30:22
Line had an adults only departure, we
30:24
were like, "Oh, that's actually perfect
30:25
for us."
30:26
>> Yeah. Let's go ahead and book it. So, we
30:29
book it. The day is going all great. The
30:30
tour guides pick us up over there and
30:33
they pick us up on the bus and we are on
30:35
our way there.
30:36
>> How far was it supposed to be?
30:38
>> It's a two plus hour drive.
30:39
>> Okay. Okay.
30:40
>> So, it's a it's a pretty long drive
30:42
getting over there.
30:43
>> Okay.
30:44
But I'd say we were maybe a third of the
30:47
way into this drive because we were
30:49
outside the city of Merida. And the bus
30:52
got a flat tire.
30:55
And initially the operator that was on
30:57
the bus was saying, "You know what? We
30:58
got a flat tire, but don't worry. We're
31:00
on it right now. We're going to go ahead
31:02
and get another bus. We already
31:03
contacted your ship." So that way they
31:05
know if we're back a little later than
31:06
expected, they will still hold the ship
31:08
for you in port. Everything will be
31:09
okay. Oh,
31:10
>> that's good. Say we were waiting on the
31:12
bus for about 90 minutes. Ouch. And
31:16
throughout that 90inut period, I'd say
31:18
maybe around 45 minutes into it, they
31:21
come back over on the PA and they're
31:23
like, "Hey, just wanted to update you
31:25
guys. Unfortunately, they were not able
31:28
to find a bus large enough to
31:30
accommodate all of our passengers that
31:31
we have on here and we had to cancel the
31:35
excursion.
31:36
Bummer. Big bummer. We were all refunded
31:39
for it thankfully. But it was a really
31:41
big bummer for us because we're kind of
31:43
just sitting there. Everybody's looking
31:44
around at each other and
31:46
>> everybody that was on that bus
31:48
>> or something, right? Like
31:49
>> Oh, they they gave us
31:51
>> everybody that was on the bus pretty
31:53
much booked that cruise
31:55
>> to go ahead and go there cuz there
31:57
aren't that many cruise lines that offer
31:59
excursions there cuz not many cruise
32:01
lines stop at Progresso,
32:03
>> right? That's that's rough. So, it was
32:08
really upsetting dealing with that. So,
32:09
it kind of put a little damper on our
32:11
mood for the rest of the day once the
32:14
replacement bus got everybody on board.
32:16
And the reason why it couldn't take it
32:18
take us over there is because about I'd
32:20
say 40% of the people that were on that
32:22
bus were having to stand.
32:24
>> Oh. So, we had people standing on our
32:26
way back to the port. So, having
32:28
>> that would be a long time.
32:29
>> It would be a long time to be standing
32:30
going back and forth. So, we understood
32:32
why. It still didn't change the fact
32:33
that it sucked. And once you've waited
32:35
that long, you've kind of lost your
32:37
window to get all the way out there and
32:38
then all the way back and still get to
32:40
see anything, I would guess.
32:42
>> Yeah, because we don't want to just go
32:43
there, be there for 30 months, and then
32:44
have to make a turn back.
32:46
>> That would be rough. Um, so, you know,
32:49
you'll have to go back. Um,
32:50
>> we'll get to that.
32:51
>> Yeah, exactly. But,
32:54
uh, so talk about some of the other
32:57
highlights that while you were on the
32:58
ship, were there any standout moments?
33:00
Any standout locations? I would say
33:03
stand out locations definitely Keys
33:05
Piano Bar in the adult only area. I
33:08
absolutely love that. One of the other
33:11
standout things I saw on board was the
33:13
Jack Jackack diaper dash, which is
33:15
basically
33:17
>> I hear
33:17
>> all of the
33:18
>> I hear that
33:19
>> all the parents of like newborn babies
33:22
>> racing their babies across this mat to
33:24
see who's the fastest. And it is so
33:28
funny to watch.
33:29
>> And they do that on every ship, right?
33:30
>> They do it on every ship.
33:32
on the Destiny. It's the hero dash. I'm
33:34
not sure if they do it on the adventure.
33:36
>> I'm sure they do.
33:37
>> It was It's just so funny to watch these
33:40
people to watch these parents go up
33:41
there and pretty much like and roll
33:43
their baby in this and the kids just
33:45
looking around like, "Where the heck am
33:46
I? What's going on, mom, dad?"
33:48
>> Oh, man.
33:49
>> And just watching for our entertainment.
33:51
It's just great. And it happened in the
33:52
atrium. So, you can be on decks three,
33:54
four, and five looking all the way down
33:56
seeing what's going on. It was It was
33:59
just so good.
34:00
>> That's awesome. I I loved it. What day
34:02
was that?
34:03
>> That was actually our final C day.
34:05
>> Okay.
34:06
>> So, it was the last day of the cruise.
34:07
>> It would kind of make sense they'd put
34:08
it on a C day, I would guess.
34:09
>> Yeah.
34:09
>> Um, so then you've now been on four
34:12
ships. How do they all compare with each
34:15
other now that you're starting to build
34:17
your library of Disney Cruise Line
34:20
ships?
34:22
>> I think the Magic is my second favorite
34:23
ship, which is really surprising. The
34:26
Fantasy, I don't think anything will
34:27
ever dethrone that ship, truthfully. I
34:30
have to go back on it eventually because
34:32
I don't have any other sailings on it.
34:33
But I really, really, really need to
34:35
make my way back there because
34:37
>> that was my first cruise and we were so
34:39
overwhelmed by what there was to do
34:40
there and I don't feel like I got to
34:42
experience that ship in its full glory.
34:44
>> Yeah. I mean, when you're kind of
34:46
blowing up because so much going on, I
34:49
can totally understand that. So, you
34:51
said fantasy, then the magic,
34:53
>> and then the wonder.
34:54
>> Okay.
34:55
>> And then the wish,
34:56
>> and then the wish. Okay. But none of
34:57
them were bad. None of them are bad. And
35:00
I was talking with other people about
35:01
this, especially now that kind of like
35:04
the rosecolored lenses of me being on
35:05
the wish have worn off. I do still love
35:07
that ship and I would sail on it again
35:09
if I had the opportunity to.
35:12
And this is a big however, but you can
35:16
tell it was a product of the pandemic.
35:18
>> Fair. You go on that ship and you can
35:21
just tell where
35:24
as much love and as much effort was put
35:26
into making it the best that it could
35:28
be. It still doesn't quite hold the same
35:31
candle as the rest of the ships in the
35:32
fleet do. And I do think that once this
35:35
vessel goes into dry dock next year,
35:37
you'll see some
35:38
>> all of those things are going to be
35:39
fixed. It'll be fun to see.
35:40
>> I firmly believe that. Yeah, that'll be
35:42
fun to see how and what changes with
35:44
that when it when they have the chance
35:45
to really
35:47
do it the more traditional way, I guess
35:49
you could say.
35:49
>> Well, that's the good thing about dry
35:51
docks, too, especially for cruise ships,
35:52
that everything can be pre-fabricated
35:54
offsite and then all it is is installing
35:56
it.
35:56
>> Uhhuh.
35:57
>> So, you can have the installation
35:58
process take 24 to 48 hours and then you
36:00
have the rest of those two weeks to
36:02
program everything and get all the bugs
36:03
out.
36:04
>> Fantastic. Yeah. Um, so you've got those
36:07
four ships under your belt now. And what
36:11
do you have looking forward?
36:14
>> A lot.
36:17
Let's see. So, in two weeks, I'll
36:19
actually be boarding the Disney Wonder
36:21
again for my birthday.
36:23
>> And I'll be sailing with my parents and
36:25
one of my super super good friends,
36:27
Bethany Vinton. I
36:29
>> I think she's actually the one that I
36:30
learned about the Baby Dash thing.
36:32
>> Probably she posts about it all the
36:34
time. She's on Disney cruise line. That
36:36
is that is her favorite thing.
36:37
>> I feel like her her handle is where I've
36:40
seen it.
36:41
>> So, I'll be sailing with her and I'm
36:43
very excited about that.
36:45
>> And then in September, I have a sailing
36:48
to the British Isles aboard the Disney
36:50
Dream, which is probably the crown jewel
36:53
of all the sailings that I've been going
36:54
on.
36:55
>> I've been looking forward to this the
36:57
most.
36:57
>> It's going to be amazing. I think being
36:59
able to experience Scotland, Ireland,
37:01
and England all in one fell swoop is
37:04
going to be such an amazing experience.
37:07
>> And then after that is another sailing
37:09
that I'm very, very excited for because
37:11
I didn't think I would be able to sail
37:13
on the ship for a while and I thankfully
37:17
am. So, I will be sailing aboard the
37:19
Disney Treasure.
37:20
>> Nice.
37:20
>> For a very Marime cruise right after
37:22
Thanksgiving.
37:23
>> That will be magical. And I am so
37:25
excited for that because I know with it
37:27
being a wish class ship, but all of the
37:29
detail and the theme that they put into
37:31
that, I'm very much looking forward to
37:33
boarding that vessel.
37:34
>> That'll be awesome. And is that all of
37:36
them or is there more?
37:37
>> Oh, we still have more.
37:38
>> Okay, good.
37:38
>> And then in January, I kind of just bit
37:42
the bullet and I had a placeholder for
37:45
2027 and the rates were incredibly
37:48
inexpensive for what it was. So, I just
37:49
bit the bullet and booked a quick little
37:50
three-ight getaway on the Disney Wonder.
37:52
>> Mhm.
37:53
>> Out of San Diego.
37:54
>> Out of San Diego, right in the beginning
37:56
of the new year because
37:57
>> Good way to start the year.
37:58
>> Yeah. Does who doesn't love starting off
37:59
the new year on a cruise,
38:00
>> right?
38:01
>> And then we have in February, which is
38:04
what I was hinting at earlier talking
38:05
about Progresso. While we were on the
38:08
bus, my family, we decided to book a
38:10
makeup cruise for this because we were
38:13
we really, really, really wanted to see
38:15
Chichinita. And the rates for the Disney
38:18
Magic were actually very very good in
38:21
the month of February. So we're heading
38:23
back in February.
38:24
>> Cool.
38:24
>> For a five night, which is also a Marvel
38:27
Days at Sea cruise, which I've never
38:28
experienced before.
38:29
>> Oh, that would be very fun.
38:30
>> So killing two birds with one stone.
38:32
Getting to experience one of the days at
38:34
Sea that Disney Cruise Line offers, as
38:36
well as going back to Progresso to go
38:37
see Chichinita.
38:38
>> Jackpot. And then probably one of the
38:41
most exciting voyages that I'm looking
38:42
forward to in 2027 is going to be the
38:46
14- night westbound Panama Canal cruise
38:49
from Galveastston to San Diego, which
38:51
also takes place over my birthday.
38:53
>> Insane.
38:54
>> I'm so grateful that we were able to go
38:57
ahead and book this specific voyage. I
39:01
actually worked with a travel agent that
39:03
I know. Her name is Christy and she was
39:06
such an angel supporting us with getting
39:08
this booking because the Panama Canal is
39:10
an incredibly popular itinerary.
39:13
>> And she somehow made some magic and it
39:15
was just
39:16
>> fantastic.
39:17
>> Awesome. And then finally, the last or
39:20
the last cruise we have, last correct,
39:24
scheduled last scheduled cruise that we
39:26
have is going to be going to Alaska in
39:28
July of 2027.
39:31
>> You can't go wrong with Alaska.
39:32
>> And I will still die on the hill that
39:34
Alaska is probably the greatest vacation
39:36
I've ever taken in my entire life. So, I
39:38
am so happy and I'm so grateful to be
39:39
able to go back and experience this
39:42
again
39:43
>> and go to the same destinations, but do
39:45
different things in those destinations.
39:46
and as well as going to a couple new
39:48
places because with this itinerary we're
39:50
going to Icy Straight Point and Sitka
39:52
>> fun
39:53
>> which I've never been to before. So so
39:55
so exciting.
39:55
>> Sit to me is quintessential Alaska. Like
39:58
I love
39:58
>> that's I've heard from a lot of people
40:00
that have been there. It's just
40:01
>> like it it when they think of Alaska,
40:03
they think of Sitka. So
40:05
>> yeah, I I totally agree with that. Um
40:07
and I have a couple cruises coming up.
40:08
One of them scheduled and one of them a
40:10
surprise. The scheduled one is in June.
40:12
I'll be going on the Star Princess,
40:14
which is their newest Princess ship that
40:17
came out in November, I think. And so,
40:19
we'll get to go to Alaska for that one
40:21
as well. And this one I'm excited about
40:22
because we're going on a uh an excursion
40:25
where you take a boat right up to the uh
40:28
to the glacier. And then afterwards,
40:32
>> those are so that's
40:32
>> if I remember correctly, we don't
40:34
actually go back to the ship right away.
40:36
Like, we go and meet the ship in Juno or
40:38
something. So, it's like a it's a longer
40:39
excursion.
40:40
>> That's that's awesome. I think it'll be
40:42
fun.
40:42
>> We did something similar when we were in
40:44
Alaska, but the Disney Wonder actually
40:46
stayed there in the fjord. It didn't go
40:47
to Juno. So, we were just out there on
40:48
the water for I'd say like 4 hours,
40:52
>> but then it brought us back. But that's
40:53
going to be cool.
40:54
>> Leaving like
40:55
>> you basically get to wave like, "Okay,
40:57
bye ship. I'll see you soon." And then
40:58
you get to go on this little boat going
41:01
back to
41:01
>> And Alaska already feels really big.
41:04
Like I think
41:05
>> it's huge. like you realize how small
41:07
you are cuz you're on one of these big
41:09
cruise ships and you look out especially
41:11
like when you're coming back from
41:12
Skagway or
41:12
>> when you're going through the FS there.
41:14
I was just looking up and I'm just like,
41:15
"Oh my god, that's a big mountain."
41:17
>> I mean, it's it's one of the reasons I
41:18
really want to go to Norway someday,
41:20
too. But um but you think of that's what
41:25
it's like on the cruise ship and then
41:26
now let's throw yourself in a smaller
41:28
boat and and go off on your own there,
41:30
too. So, that'll be a lot of fun doing
41:32
the train thing again in Skagway cuz you
41:34
can't go wrong with that. But that'll be
41:36
fun. The other unscheduled trip will
41:38
actually be the one I'm on right now
41:40
when this goes live and I will be on the
41:42
Disney Wonder going from San Diego to
41:45
Catalina to Ensanatada back to San
41:47
Diego. So this will be my first Disney
41:49
cruise. Disney reached out to us
41:52
>> two weeks ago. Like it was about recent
41:55
since we filmed the last episode. Like
41:57
it's it's that recent.
41:59
>> It's very very new.
42:00
>> Yeah. So uh they reached out to us and
42:02
offered a media cruise. And obviously
42:04
you don't say no to that. So our next
42:06
episode will have lots of wonder in it
42:09
because uh I will have experienced it by
42:11
then.
42:12
>> Our next episode is going to be actually
42:13
really cool because it's going to be the
42:15
roles are reversed. I'm going to be the
42:17
one asking all the questions.
42:18
>> Yeah. Are we going to call it like the
42:20
wondrous?
42:21
You could say you could say it's
42:23
wondrous.
42:24
>> Yes. Uh I love that firework show.
42:28
It'll be fun. We're going to have a
42:29
blast and uh and then we will have
42:31
context in our conversations moving
42:33
forward which will make it even better
42:35
because it will provide
42:38
>> gaps of knowledge that I don't exactly.
42:40
>> Yeah. And
42:41
>> like when I'm when I'm talking about
42:42
things or the experiences on the ship,
42:45
you're not going to be like, "Oh, like I
42:46
need to envision that." You'll be like,
42:47
"Oh, oh, no, wait. I remember when I did
42:50
that."
42:50
>> Yes. Exactly. And it'll be fun. And and
42:52
I'll get to see, and I almost said it
42:54
while you were talking about them, but I
42:56
held my tongue. is I'll actually get to
42:58
see how good the chicken nuggets
43:00
actually are.
43:02
>> Chicken tenders, I should say.
43:03
>> I don't know what it is. I really don't
43:05
know. Like Disney Culinary specifically
43:07
for DCL, if you're listening,
43:10
>> how are they so good?
43:11
>> And keep it a secret. I don't get it.
43:13
Keep it a secret. Keep it under lock and
43:14
key. Trademark it. Copyrighted. Do
43:16
whatever you need.
43:17
>> Yes.
43:18
>> I don't know what it is. I ordered
43:20
chicken tenders via room service three
43:22
separate times. Both at like 1 or 2 in
43:23
the morning. Both at ungodly hours of
43:25
the evening. list of things to do,
43:27
>> but they were so and they were nice and
43:29
hot. They were crispy.
43:31
>> It was just delicious. And it wasn't
43:33
just like one or two. They were like
43:34
three or four tenders there. It was a
43:36
full serving. So, it was
43:37
>> great. And they they gave us a great
43:39
room. It's got I mean, you you know what
43:42
it is better than I do.
43:43
>> When you shared what cabin it was, I was
43:45
like,
43:47
>> so it'll be good.
43:48
>> I was like, that's one of the that's so
43:49
nice.
43:50
>> I'm happy that there's there's a deck.
43:51
Like, I like anytime you can go outside.
43:54
>> I love Riveranda. I don't think I could
43:55
ever I always say this. I'm just I could
43:57
stay in any cabin, which is true, but
44:00
I've been so spoiled by always having a
44:02
veranda. I just absolutely love having a
44:03
veranda.
44:04
>> Don't you think? Yeah, we're we're
44:06
definitely spoiled by being able to go
44:08
out and enjoy things like that. And and
44:10
part of that is that's the investment
44:12
we've chosen to make when we travel. But
44:15
um I do think there is an argument being
44:18
made to what you just said is you can be
44:20
happy in any room on a Disney cruise or
44:23
really any cruise. It just changes where
44:25
you spend your time.
44:26
>> You really can. And especially because
44:28
I've talked to people where they say the
44:29
room doesn't really matter to me because
44:31
I don't spend as much time in my room.
44:34
And I understand that. I am a person who
44:37
really values the placement and the
44:39
location and the type of room I'm in
44:40
because I actually do spend a fair
44:42
amount of time in my room.
44:44
>> Well, I work in mine, you know, cuz work
44:46
comes with me when I when I go anywhere.
44:49
>> And it even on this cruise, it came with
44:50
me, too. So, it was actually nice being
44:52
able to have like a separate table where
44:54
you can go ahead and sit down at and
44:56
take care of everything. It was actually
44:57
nice to just open the veranda door and
45:00
listen to the ocean go by as I'm working
45:02
there, typing up emails,
45:04
>> up and down.
45:04
>> Yeah. And just see watching the up and
45:06
down. It was just so
45:07
>> Yeah.
45:08
>> So nice.
45:09
>> But I've heard people with like inside
45:10
cabins, they love inside cabins because
45:13
it is pitch black. So when they go to
45:14
bed, they go to bed.
45:15
>> You're asleep.
45:16
>> It's like you are asleep. And for me, I
45:19
think I would love that, but I would
45:20
hate it waking up in the morning cuz I'd
45:21
wake up and be like, "Oh my god, it's
45:22
2:00 in the morning." And then look
45:23
over, I'm like, "Oh no, it's actually
45:24
10:00 and you overslept."
45:26
>> Yeah. You'd actually have to use a an
45:28
alarm clock. But um which I will be
45:30
using an alarm clock on this this cruise
45:32
because they are giving us um some
45:34
access to things and some interview
45:35
opportunities and whatever. So, I have a
45:38
very packed schedule and it will be a
45:40
blast and I'm sure I'll come back
45:42
exhausted and uh in the best way
45:44
possible. But uh we will have an update
45:46
on that very soon and and hopefully
45:49
enjoy it. But I think that's what we got
45:50
for you for this this episode. So if you
45:53
haven't done it yet, make sure to
45:54
subscribe wherever you're watching or
45:55
listening to this podcast and uh give
45:58
that five star rating or whatever you
46:00
feel is appropriate. Hopefully it's five
46:01
stars.
46:02
>> Hopefully it's five stars. If not, let
46:04
us know what we need to do in order to
46:06
get it to that five star.
46:06
>> And if you have suggestions for what
46:08
you'd like to hear in the future or see
46:09
in the future, let us know, too. is um
46:12
we we can talk about anything as long as
46:14
it's travel related. And uh
46:17
>> there's one thing I love doing is
46:18
yapping.
46:18
>> Exactly. We This podcast really came to
46:22
be because we were already having the
46:24
conversation.
46:25
>> We were already having the conversation.
46:26
We're just like why not put it on a
46:28
podcast platform which is funny cuz
46:30
that's almost all of our podcasts and
46:32
shows because
46:34
>> that's just podcasts in general. I feel
46:35
like too everybody cuz I think that's
46:37
what makes podcast so appealing where
46:39
it's just like you're just listening
46:40
into a conversation cuz who doesn't love
46:42
just sometimes
46:43
>> listening into a conversation hearing
46:45
what other people thoughts are and
46:46
>> whatot literally I'm thinking of photos
46:48
like clock and I were already doing what
46:50
we do now on the podcast so uh anyway
46:52
give us a rating hopefully it's a good
46:54
one if it's not let us know why and uh
46:56
and we will do better because that's
46:58
just how we roll I guess but
46:59
>> correct
47:01
>> correct
47:01
>> we learned from Taylor Swift right
47:03
>> yes
47:03
>> we'll just do a better one
47:04
>> well Yes, actually life lessons from
47:06
Taylor. Who would have guessed? Um,
47:10
>> I am not the hugest Taylor Swift fan,
47:12
but I did learn from her. You know, I'm
47:15
proud of you.
47:15
>> Yeah, it's great.
47:16
>> You guys have all helped me. But anyway,
47:19
thank you for watching or listening
47:21
wherever you are. Hope you're having an
47:22
absolutely fantastic week. Stay
47:24
positive, keep kind. We'll see you in
47:26
the parks. Bye.
