On this day in 1934, ‘Le Journal de Mickey’ launched in France. The magazine features comic strips about the adventures of Mickey Mouse, Disney characters, and other family-friendly stories. ‘Le Journal de Mickey’ is cited as the origin of the modern Franco-Belgian (or “BD”) strip stories. The publication still runs today and is France's most popular weekly magazine for kids 8-13! Paul Winkler, the magazine’s creator, was named a Disney Legend in 1997.
