welcome to Geeks Corner i'm Mr daps i'm Katie and we are live kind of from Tokyo

Japan where we are at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel right behind us right there actually there is the nighttime

spectacular projection with a few fireworks show going on at Tokyo Disneyland we just spent our first day

in the park and uh it was a heck of a day but before we get into any of that

what should people do Katie you should go into the chat you should tell us who you think the Muppet of the Week is

going to be this week um I I don't actually Just kidding i pre- guessed

remember i pre- guessed last week waldo graphic i think it's Waldoy Graphic this week i like that idea too kind

of i'm trying to think of anybody else that it would be from that show it was already Swedoms yeah I feel it could be

Miss Piggy though especially with the tantrum she's been having online this week with her nephews being picked so

I'm going to guess either Miss Piggy or Waldo i kind of think Waldo though that would that would make that's my

education that would be fitting that would make sense i'm all for that good for Good for last week Katie for preging

because that set me up for success waldo graphic that is my guess because Muppet

Vision closes on June 7th sunday

whatever June 7th is i think that's actually Saturday

oh cuz the 5th is Thursday saturday yep there we go uh and that is why we're

here because the 5th is Thursday which is my birthday and this year we thought it'd be fun to come out to Tokyo

Disneyland and hang out with my sister and her husband at Disneyland and Disney

so they will meeting be meeting up with us in a couple of days and it'll be a lot of fun cuz we are in the future

right now if you are watching this in the United States it's already tomorrow here most likely yes it's so unless when

it's unless when it's today then it's today and then it's tomorrow but it's not yesterday

i can't go back but flying back we do go back in time which is a lot of fun and we will see how that goes but we have

been in uh Tokyo for a few days now we went to a couple places around Tokyo Yokohama Kamakura um all of that stuff

there vlogs that will be going up that you can watch if you want to see all of those adventures in the rain uh

yesterday and today might be the only two days that we don't get rain although there's a chance on Thursday that it

won't rain currently but we've learned you don't believe the weather report until the day before

even then it's kind of hit or miss because it said no rain today and then

coming out of the park tonight it's like hey it's about to rain so we will see um

you know these these things happen i will say uh when you're in Japan for the

rainy season if it ever says sunny you should just assume it is going to rain at some point yeah which is great yeah

which we love rain just bring a rain jacket buy an umbrella here they're not expensive it's been great and and go

enjoy your day bring a cover for your camera though if you bring a DSLR uh anyway we were in the Tokyo region out

of Yokohama actually for the first few days then we came over here yesterday

was our first kind of day at Disney uh we checked into the hotel went to XBRI

we went to XBRI that was a big flash behind us that was like the fire I think

was at Guardian Galley Galaxy yeah so then we uh went to XBR twice uh got into

the room this is an amazing room we'll have a room tour up you'll have to check that out it's so cool it is very cool

it's It's got um Mickey and Minnie decorations and Chip and Dale and Pluto as I'm looking around it's very like

Victorian um so kind of think like 1900 Park Fair

um type decoration very classic but there's also like elements of Beauty and

the Beast um all super and depending on which part of the hotel you're in

there's different things yes um where we're at in the hotel you can see the main gate for Disneyland you can see the

castle you can actually see the mountain in Disney Sea which is a lot of fun and you see the Montreal go by all the time

too it's It's a great room we get to watch the volcano around and you can see the fireworks like we could see both uh

Sky Full of Color and this I'm forgetting the name of the projector show right now but um we could see both last night which was awesome uh so we

had lunch at uh what was the name of the restaurant uh Roy's Yes something it was

very fun it was not like what we're used to in the United States i had a beef

curry katie had uh roast beef roast beef with um what what was with it mashed

potatoes mashed potatoes cream spinach and what else no worries radish and horseradish katie didn't know about the

horseradish uh I thought it was more mashed potato whoops um I said "Oh boy dig in." Which

is funny cuz I normally don't do things like that but I was like "Heck yeah man." Everything was great uh which was

really surprising because it looked kind of like a quick serve whatever and one of the things we've discovered that we

really like here is a lot of restaurants you either write down your order or you

scan a QR code and you just order on a website which is really and the food just appears which is amazing it's very

helpful when you're not super familiar with the language um because sometimes pointing uh is just kind of hard and not

always super possible but everybody's everybody's been very gracious it's been really good

um so we had lunch there it was great like it

was the curry was it was really good to have curry here that was Japanese curry and it had a nice little spice and it

was great so then we came back here and we're actually let into the room which was a lot of fun and also we skimmed

over the fact that we were watching Japanese baseball and we were watching Japanese baseball which was a lot of fun also so fun um filmed very differently

than what we're used to in the United States but uh it was still fun to watch so we come back here oh we also bought

Katie's shoes which was great uh those were definitely a problem on rainy days

she was sliding all over the place now she won't hopefully we'll find out tomorrow um and then uh came back checked out the

room it was awesome geeked out about that did some shopping went back over there and had sushi for dinner mhm and I

don't remember where that was either uh but I would go again yeah i cannot I can

almost picture the name but I cannot okay well anyway it was it was great um

it was delicious it was also You wrote down your order um it was like authentic sushi so you're thinking like a bowl of

rice with um fish or And we had salmon salmon we had tuna fatty tuna we had a

snow crab snow crab shrimp shrimp you had I had octopus octopus and

scallop i had yellow tail and then we had the rice thing that was wrapped in

and the rice with a tofu um like a fried tofu and then wrapped

around it and then we had the Canadian Oh yeah we also had a Canadian roll

which was a salmon roll with cucumber and lettuce and row on top salmon row on top

yeah the lettuce really threw me off i was like "Okay I've never really had lettuce in a salmon or in a sushi roll

before." That was probably the one there was nothing wrong with it but it wasn't as exciting like everything else was

like "Oh this is awesome." And this one was like "Okay this is the row is really good though." That was the highlight i

mean that's the thing when you're here um like when you're in Japan is the fish

is going to be fresher the um like everything is going to be a much higher

quality than we're used to it's much more accessible um so the salmon for me

was the absolute highlight surrounded by the ocean i am a big fan of salmon

probably my favorite fish maybe one of my favorite proteins period um and the salmon

so we came back we watched fireworks we watched the projection show that we're forgetting the name of last night which is right behind us which is why we're

not watching it tonight because we kind of felt like we'd already seen it because you can hear the music you can

see the projections you can see the fireworks um we could have stayed and filmed it but it was also just insane

there and uh we have three more days in the park so it was like we could see

this in the rain it'll be fine if it's raining on Wednesday night when we're back at Disneyland true um then uh today we got up bright and

early went to early entry which is awesome we showed up about 45 minutes before early entry and we were in within

what a minute of early entry starting yes like I think they opened it at 45 at 8:45 for a 9:00 opening of the park

walked into the park by 46 47 got started snapping pictures and got a uh

premiere pass for um uh Dream Lights for tonight the Tokyo Disney Electrical

Parade Dream Lights and uh then we walked up saw some p or took some

pictures of the castle Walt Disney and then we're like let's go on Monsters what is it ride and seek yes we were

like let's go so we're heading over there it's a 5minute wait and wouldn't you know it the band walked out we were

like the band so I grabbed the pocket three went chasing after the band and uh

filmed the entire first set of the band which was right in front of the partner statue with the castle in the background

right as the park opened right as the park opened in fact they started like a minute or two before and uh so pe so

they were playing when people were walking in which I thought was pretty cool but I also thought it was crazy because most people just were like

bolting by I'm sure going to Beauty and the Beast Beast and Winnie the Pooh and who knows where else um there were some

like uh merchandise things happening too it seemed like that I saw lines for and uh so we we watched that it was a lot of

fun they were very good and uh then we're like we will go to Monsters Inc and then it was like

a 40th I think it was almost an hour it was about an hour it was long so they have a 40th pass 40th anniversary pass

that you can also get yes you have to pay yes but it's it's basically a a

premier pass or what lightning lane whatever you want to call them um so we got that and it was for the afternoon so

they're like "All right what are we going to do now?" So what we do what did we do after that uh was that when we

walked to We went on our first ride oh we went on our first ride oh my goodness

we made a really good call we went over to the Haunted Mansion um we both kind of had no idea what to expect your

sister had said "Oh it's it's Florida's um on a lot of people." Yeah and so you

said "Okay." Um we can skip it we can skip it we were like "Oh it's a short line it'd be something fun to do." What

have you um it is similar to Florida's it's a little darker i mean it's a lot

darker a lot darker um very ooky spooky there's That's what I meant by darker

i mean it's darker in co like Yes contrasting also that's what I I meant like but the moment you walk in it is

spookier yeah and I got legitimately scared on there was a jump scare it

worked really well which is funny because if you know me and if you don't

hi I'm Katie um but if you know me I love Halloween i love spooky things i

mean you've watched me at Scary Farm when they're trying to get me and I just kind of go But you also weren't

expecting it no extremely unexpected um we go into the attic scene and I'm like I know how this attic scene goes and

then boom scary ghost pops up and uh thank goodness I was not the one filming

because I jumped like I very legitimately jumped it was scary it was

funny um but yeah it's really fun and it's just different enough from Magic

Kingdom's version um I would say the only thing the only thing and I totally

understand but there's no Thor Ravenscroft and like Oh yeah it's I thought you were going to say no hat

ghost i have opinions about Hatbox Ghost that I will not be sharing because I don't

want to be okay you know what hot take time i'm gonna say it

oh my gosh Bailey I'm so sorry for what I'm about to say i would have preferred the hatbox ghost stay a Disney mystery

make it an urban legend kind of a thing because I loved this like spooky thing of oh we had this animatronic for like a

month or whatever short period of time it was and then it disappeared and no one knows where it is to me that's like

so fun um and I think the hatbox ghost

is great as a character um I just feel and this is my opinion that he was

shoehorned in into I'm my gosh I can already feel people so mad at

me i wish he had stayed a mystery that's That's my opinion that's my And I don't

I don't hate you if you disagree with me i think it's great if you love him that is just my one one gal's opinion one gal

who loves ooky spooky creepy mysteries um anyway so we were on we did go on

Haunted Mansion then we went to get breakfast yes so we had breakfast it

was great uh then we went to and coffee which was very important it's very hard to get coffee here it turns out um

they're not a huge like walk down to the lobby and walk away with a cup of coffee thing um nowhere is perfect i guess it's okay

but after that we went over to Adventureland hopped on Jungle Cruise which is is a hoot like I have no clue

what's going on it's similar it's different it's it's very energetic um it's got some really cool effects you'll

have to see the video it's got a mix of old and new yeah they do they do a really good job i think one of the

funniest parts of it to me though is you're going through the jungle and you come around the African belt and you

hear the lion king yeah that threw me off over the um uh over the sleeping

like the lions are over the sleeping zebra and you hear

it's I was like that that part's funny to me um yeah it really threw me off and

I'd forgotten that from when I went on it and it's different going on it during the day than at night yes and uh and I

thought that was a good thing um after that we went on the train which I'd never been on the train before and that

was fun too the first probably third of it is just bushes and then you get then

you get Rivers of America or whatever their their uh wild west is and um and

then you get more and more and more like you see all sorts of cool stuff i was going to say after the first third it all starts to be if you're familiar with

the Disneyland Railroad it's a lot more familiar it starts to be very familiar but very different but different because

uh it's also I so funny these are things that happen when we're filming and then we never actually talk about them the

burning house burning house uh we have not had the burning house we've had it on and off for like 40 years but

currently those that go to Disneyland yes Disneyland um and like the Indian village and the

dog but the dog was not with the little girl and I was like where you go by the Haunted Mansion where you go by Splash

Mountain where you go by like there's uh Thunder Mountain yes they're all in very like you go by Thunder Mountain and then

you go into the diarama which so I thought that was an interesting just the dinosaur part i thought it was

interesting transition because it's this the fossils at Thunder it makes more

sense in some ways the just the dinosaur it's way more sense than Tomorrowland

unless you're doing a time machine uh so yeah did that then we hopped into I

believe that's when we went to uh It's a Small World which blew my mind i hadn't

done that one before either and it was kind of like it's small world like what do you know uh there is stuff everywhere

you look from the moment the boat leaves the before the boat leaves the docks because they have the facade that's very

similar to Disneyland's including the the the clock in the front the 15-minute clock and you kind of expect it to walk

inside and it'll be a big empty room with with the Walt Disney World's version a dock yeah uh cuz they've

already put the facade out front but inside it's it's decorations everywhere

paintings sculptures you name it it's there you get on the ride the moment you

leave the dock there's stuff everywhere and they've added characters there's Groot there's a bunch of other Marvel

superheroes definitely watch the video there's one up we'll have another one up too just cuz you might get another perspective we'll see but um like you

literally cannot take it all in because it's so much everywhere what I think is

so I'm so sorry what I think is so fun is that at Disneyland Resort it's literally like "Okay this is the UK

alice in Wonderland okay that's nice." Uh this is Hawaii Little Mermaid that's

close um it goes crazy it's everywhere it's like oh any character that

represents this country boom they're in the attraction no they did a great job and the music's way different it was

very fun it was beautiful vibrant um there's even postcards at the end clocky

so uh sent from Disneyland you were remembered but uh no fantastic great

version of the ride um you know Disneyland's will always be the original

the original the foundational we love it this one is a is incredible as well uh

after that we was that when we got lunch uh yeah so we had curry for lunch it was

great delicious we're going to keep moving because we're going to run out of time um after lunch that's when things got

interesting so we're like "Hey what if we checked out the tiki room?"

That's That's a thing we said the tiki room could be fun and there's pictures

of of Stitch out there we know Stitch is on in the tiki room he's been there for a very long time tiki tiki tiki never

watched a video never uh there is no in the tiki tiki tiki room was there i I

just realized that uh like I was so um I guess in shock through the entire show i

was overwhelmed the voices were different the characters were different the the show kind of had a similar

pacing I guess you could say of building to a scary moment and then release and

goodbye yes but you don't even actually know the show's over and suddenly the cast member was like "Goodbye." That was

that part and the the birds are still talking and they're like "See you." And

so I don't know what happened hi ho um no it was it's cute shorter uh it was

only like 10 minutes was it really i thought it was 12 uh maybe it was 10 there was There is a bird mobile so

don't don't you like it has a lot of And it has it has the tiki gods on the walls

like it has all of the elements that you're familiar with just not used in any way like you're familiar with so it

was really interesting and none of the song it was crazy it was super fun though yes so then we headed on over to

uh Country Bear which was um also similar but

different uh most of it was in Japanese yes and it was which version Katie uh

the Country Bear Vacation Hoown uh which is a hoot if you are familiar if you are

a Disneylander when Country Bear Jamboree closed at Disneyland on September 9th

2001 it was the vacation jamboree um it this is essentially the same show there

was a couple songs that were replaced um like like Achy Breaky Heart is now in it

but it's in Japanese it's also in English but it's mostly in Japanese she sings a little bit yeah it was it was fun it was amazing um and it looks great

cuz they take really good care of it it's beautiful i just wish they had merchandise we could not find any um I

want California Bears merchandise cuz I do wish they could all be California Bears i just want any like I I actually

We'll get to merchandise um so after that uh we What is it did we just relax

for a little bit no we went on we we skipped one we did go on Monsters Inc

ride and seek after lunch yes that was actually what we did first uh and then we went into the two shows that ride was

a lot of fun it's cute it's Monsters Inc uh Mike and Sully to the Rescue and Disney California Adventure um that's

been amped up a little bit and it's interactive with flashlights and you It's kind of like a missing link between

Monsters Inc uh Mike and Sully to the rescue and like Buzz Light your Astro

Blasters with no score and it was just a lot of fun and it was cute and it was

very much a lot of scenes look like it came from the attraction in California

there's certain animatronics that only do things if you interact with them and the ride vehicles move differently it

was it was very well done it was very fun i see why people love it we'll have video of that up as well uh so after we

do all of that stuff I mean you also you missed so you missed the really funny part okay we went to go redeem Mike and

Sully uh or Ride and Go seek we were like "Okay we have our premiere pass

here we go." And the Disneyland Band came out oh yeah so I filmed them again

that's right it was this and it was this endless joke of like are we ever actually going to go on this attraction or I would have been okay filming the

Disneyland band all day they were and we got to hear the Mickey Mouse Club merch yes we got to hear King Mickey it was fantastic that is something I've missed

and I will say it over and over and over again it's like a minute long play it Disneyland band

i don't know if anybody who's hearing this can make that happen but it is the most iconic Disneyland band song ever

and it it's it's it is Disneyland to so many people yes

and uh it's it's such a huge part of the legacy i think it'd be a great thing to bring back um and I'd love to It was

great hearing it again after over a decade I think anyway all of that stuff happened yes uh

what did we do after the shows um after the shows we hung out for a bit oh there we go after we hung out for a bit we was

it straight into dinner i think we explore uh we explored um Toontown and

Toontown Belle's Village all of that stuff tomorrowland is wild yeah all that

kind of stuff then we had dinner it was fine i'm going to say it was a burger

burger and um Tomorrowland Terrace like nothing wrong with it nothing amazing about it it It did what it needed to do

uh then after dinner uh we wandered around a little bit more before getting

um You got ice cream I got coffee delicious and then we got these amazing front row seats for Dreamlights watch

the parade incredible it's If you love the Main Street

Electral Parade you're going to love this and if you don't love the Main Street Electrical Parade you'll probably

still love it mh i mean it's kind of the middle ground between that and Paint the Night

and the effects on it in some ways are above all of them yes like there's

really some fascinating and awesome things they do with lights and

um other stuff like it it just it's magic there's a lot of characters that are going to surprise you you're going

to be like "Whoa." And it all works it was very very well done loved it uh then

after all of that actually in between all of that and then after that we did some shopping and that's my that's my

thing okay if you like towels trinkets

little soft plush there's tons of those fun things even uh even like stickers

tons of stickers and lots of postcards lots of even postcards i think we counted 12 different postcard offerings

um if you want a sweatshirt impossible can't find them we found one uh t-shirts

t-shirts quite a few but none none that really say Tokyo Disney button-ups not really there was two I think and they

were suits so it was a button-up with shorts that matched and And that's just not going to happen i tried to convince

Mr daps he said "No never going to happen." Um but yeah it was kind of surprising

they did have on on I don't remember what store it was but they had the uh CD making i don't

know what it was in Japanese in uh World Bazaar but I I know that's where it was i was trying to remember the store

giving context but it was the CD thing where you could make a CD and take it home and they also had a bunch of

amazing CDs and I kind of wish I had a CD player because um they had like a

compilation for the for 2024 whatever all of those things were and they had

one for uh uh Believe they had one for um uh Mickey's Big Band Beep which I

believe is ending its run soon and uh they had so many different CDs like it

was very impressive um like it literally had me thinking like hm I wonder how

much a CD player would cost like we could plug it into the uh same place as the uh record player like it'd be fine

and there was a CD for Fantasy Springs so these aren't just like outdated CDs they are actively making new CDs and

they're great CDs like there's there's a lot of good stuff and and that goes into the music of the park which is just

phenomenal everywhere like background music's great the live music's great apparently they have a piano player that

goes around on a bike thing i saw it there i just didn't see anybody on it um that was great uh the BDX droids are

here right now would have been awesome to see them just didn't find them but that's okay we've seen them before uh a

couple times three times four times I don't know we've seen them a time or two we've been spoiled um but it was it was

really cool getting to see all of these different um or hear all of these different musical arrangements

and vibes in different parts of the park and even in front like as we're walking

out just great and all of the music for the parades and the and the shows were good as we were walking by and um and

then the the nighttime spectaculars as well had really great music so that's just day one of four that will be at the

uh Tokyo Disney Resort in two days for each park and from your first day and I

guess you could also take the the lead in day what's been your favorite thing so far Katie uh wow that's hard i think

my favorite uh I'll I'll say two i think my favorite attraction is uh Ride and Go Seek okay i

think my favorite entertainment offering is the uh Tokyo Electrical Parade Dream Light

shocker uh easily the best thing um well for those of you screaming at the at

this the screen right now of like oh what about Beauty and the Beast what about Winnie the Pooh we're waiting for my sister to do that so that will be on

Wednesday um she really loves this attraction yes so we're that was intentional

um and we might do like Pirates or something on on Wednesdays why not yeah

absolutely uh Disneyland Band probably was my favorite and right up there with with Dream

Lights and I really liked the um

the Jungle Cruise too like I always I've always enjoyed Jungle Cruise that's one of my favorites but um so fun i it does

make me wonder like how the jokes are set up in um Japanese because like oh

and that Schwitzer falls we'll go over that later that joke probably doesn't work in Japanese well clearly there were

different things happening because there were definite interactive points where people just started singing along or we

were like or quoting along or I don't know like people clearly knew stuff it

was it was interesting and the skipper was fantastic um but we're going to have

more up on this and we'll be talking about the rest of the trip in a couple of weeks but we are starting to run out
