On this day in 1924, the short film ‘Alice’s Day at Sea,’ was released. It was the first in the ‘Alice Comedies’ series, which combined silent black and white animation with live-action sequences. ‘Alice’s Day at Sea’ was also the first project ever produced by the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. The film begins in live action with Alice falling asleep in a rowboat. As she dreams, the cartoon takes over and Alice has fantastical adventures with undersea creatures.
