Tilly, who works in the ticket booth at the Main Street Cinema at Disneyland, is celebrating Women’s History Month. Guests who stop by the cinema can see that she is dressed in her best suffragette outfit which includes wearing a sash to celebrate the month. She also has some cake and tea to make the celebration extra sweet.
Women’s History Month is observed each March in the United States with International Women’s Day being on March 8. The origins of this annual month-long celebration goes back to the first International Women’s Day in 1911. It didn’t really begin to gain traction until 1969 when a march on International Women’s Day led to the creation of The Women’s History Research Center. This also led to the expansion from International Women’s Day to Women’s History Week and then Women’s History Month eventually. Since 1988, U.S. Presidents have issued annual proclamations designating the month of March as Women’s History Month.
On Friday, March 7, the day before International Women’s Day, Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by the Main Street Cinema and took the following photos and video of Tilly.
