‘Disney Sing-Along Songs’ Return with New ‘Special Spice’ Sing-Along

Disney hearkened back to the era of VHS tapes and Disney Sing-Along Songs today with a new video that was released on the Disneyland Instagram. After the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the park released a Sing-Along for the original song on the attraction, Special Spice.

The video shows moments from the attraction with Anika-Noni Rose singing the song with the lyrics shown on screen so fans can sing along at home as well, complete with bouncing fireflies. The video also gives a lovely nod back to the original VHS tapes with the logo that is a clear nod to the series that was released from 1986-2006.

Here is a look at this special Sing-Along:

The original Disney Sing-Along Songs were released from 1986 through 2006 when YouTube and digital video came to the scene and made VHS tapes obsolete. During the course of the run, there were 29 volumes released through the 20-year run. They were also released on laser discs and DVDs. In the original versions, a Mickey Mouse icon bounced over the lyrics to songs. Initially, there was a theme song introduction that featured footage of Professor Owl from decades before. There also originally were hosts that introduced the Sing-Alongs. This included Professor Owl, Jiminy Cricket, and Ludwig Von Drake. Eventually, these were dropped in later releases.

For many Disney fans who grew up in the late 80s or 90s, Disney Sing-Along Songs are a beloved staple from their childhood. Undoubtedly, a large group of Disney fans are now eagerly hoping there will be more of these videos released in the future.
