Disneyland Paris has announced that a new gazebo is being built where guests will be able to meet their favorite Disney friends. This is part of work being done at Disneyland Paris to weatherproof and improve guests’ experiences when they visit. The new gazebo can be found between the Liberty Arcade and Central Plaza. It promises to offer an “elegant and covered” meet-and-greet location.
Disneyland Paris shared about the gazebo and what went into making it. Take a look below at what was shared about this new meet-and-greet location. It is just one of part of a bigger weatherproofing plan at Disneyland Paris. Work is also being done on a covered terrace at Casey’s Corner. This new sheltered area for guests is expected to open in the spring of 2025.
The objective for Walt Disney Imagineering was to keep within the Victorian time period of Main Street, USA® while improving conditions for guests and Cast Members. This new gazebo was created in collaboration with Disneyland Paris teams and external contractors, and combines an innovative steel-like resin structure – better suited to Parisian weather – which fits harmoniously with the aesthetic of the Land, and an adjustable decor that the Entertainment teams can personalize depending on what’s on in Disneyland® Park.
In addition to being a visual tribute to musical gazebos that can be found in parks from the Victorian era, and stars along the roof hinting at a touch of Disney magic, this gazebo features a Victorian-style chandelier. Also the verdigris color choice is a reminder of the Statue of Liberty, which makes perfect sense considering the gazebo’s proximity to Liberty Arcade
Stéphane Poulain, architect at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, explains: “As designers, our objective was to make our guests believe this gazebo has always been part of Main Street, USA®, and allow them to create new memories during their visit while offering a better experience when the weather is bad” .
Indeed the other benefit of this gazebo is to stay open to guests even outside of Disney Character Meet ‘n’ Greet hours, so they can still take pictures in this refined decor. Imagined as a place of celebration, it could welcome all sorts of entertainment, thought up by the Entertainment teams in the future.
