About the Speaker
Chris Crump
Chris Crump retired from Walt Disney Imagineering in 2016, having contributed to a variety of projects over 28 years. He was also part of the team which received the 2002 Thea Award® for Best New Theme Park (Tokyo DisneySea® Park ) from the Themed Entertainment Association. Other projects for the Tokyo Disney Resort® include Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare and Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek!.
As a Production Designer and Field Art Director, Crump brought to life The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, which opened in June 2011 in Disney California Adventure® Park at Disneyland® Resort .
For many years, Crump earned his living as an accomplished model maker. Working at Magicam—a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures—Crump worked on Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) and the Emmy Award®-winning Cosmos: A Personal Voyage (1980), a series by Carl Sagan.
In the very beginning of his career, Chris partnered with his father, Rolly Crump, in constructing Knott’s Bear-y Tales at Knott’s Berry Farm. This charming dark ride operated from 1975 to 1986. As luck would have it, a reimagined version of Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair, opened in 2021 at the Farm.
Rolly Crump played a huge role in Chris’s career, his influence artistically, and professionally… it’s been a Wild Ride!
