Disneyland Railroad | DISNEY THIS DAY | March 27, 1999

On this day in 1999, the Disneyland Railroad marked two important milestones. Steam Engine No. 2, the E. P. Ripley, was rededicated at the park after being fully restored. The E. P. Ripley ran at Disneyland on opening day in 1955 and had been in service ever since. It was known as Walt Disney’s favorite locomotive. The park also announced that a new Engine No. 5 would join the Disneyland Railroad fleet, the first since 1959. It would be named the Ward Kimball after the famed Disney animator and railroad enthusiast.
