A 30-minute documentary special, “Disney Princess: Create Your World – Mattel and Viktor&Rolf,” is now available on Hulu and across ABC Owned Television Stations’ digital and streaming platforms, and will captivate audiences with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes exploration of the Viktor&Rolf x Disney Collector Cinderella Doll. This episode will showcase Mattel, Disney, and Viktor&Rolf as they reveal the creative process that reimagined a beloved Disney fairytale character into a stunning couture collectible. This will be the third episode in the “Create Your World” series, following “Create Your World x Coperni” and “Create Your World x Pandora.”
From the original inspiration, look, and craftmanship at the atelier to the dramatic Paris Fashion Week debut, the episode offers an exclusive look at the passionate designers and creators who dared to break boundaries and reimagine a classic for a new generation.
Mattel, Inc., in collaboration with Disney and renowned fashion house Viktor&Rolf, announced the launch of the Viktor&Rolf x Disney Collector Cinderella Doll, a striking and limited-edition collector’s item that redefines the boundaries between fashion, fantasy, and storytelling. This collaboration stems from Disney’s enduring creative relationships and a shared vision that unites the three iconic brands in creating something truly extraordinary. This high-concept reinterpretation of the classic Disney Princess character was first unveiled during Paris Fashion Week at Musée des Arts Décoratifs on January 21.
Inspired by a dramatic tulle and embroidered gown from Viktor&Rolf’s Spring Summer 2019 Haute Couture “Fashion Statements” Collection, the doll embodies the designers’ signature blend of surreal elegance and theatrical flair. The result is a collector’s piece that applies Viktor&Rolf’s artistic vision to the classic enchantment of the Disney Collector style, realized through Mattel’s legacy in creating dolls while paying tribute to the culture, creativity, and original design of the 1950 film.
“We have a longstanding fascination with dolls. Already as children, dolls functioned as ersatz runway fashion models that allowed us to dream and project our fashion fantasies into the world. A lot of our interest in dolls is connected with our childlike attraction to the mystery and glamour of fashion itself. This dreamy sense of wonder has never quite left us,” said Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren.
