Downtown Disney District Construction Around Porto's Bakery and Cafe

Walls Expand Around Future Porto’s Bakery and Cafe at Disneyland Resort Changing Walking Patterns

Construction continues to keep moving forward at the Disneyland Resort at the future home of Porto’s Bakery and Cafe. The walls around the future Porto’s location have been expanded, and work can be heard happening behind them. These new walls block the normal walkway that guests take between the Downtown Disney District and the Esplanade. Instead, they are diverted to the loading/unloading zone for the trams from the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures.

The trams are still unloading on both the Downtown Disney District side of the loading/unloading zone. It doesn’t appear that they are picking guests up at the Downtown Disney District loading/unloading zone, however. Instead, guests are being diverted to the other side of the loading/unloading zone on the far side under the Monorail to board trams. It is unknown if this will continue during the peak hours of tram traffic in the evening.

Friend of Daps Magic, Spencer, took photos of the area as it can be seen as of Thursday morning. The expanded walls/fences can be seen in these photos, along with the empty fountain with new planters around it. With the disruption that this will cause for the guest flow in the area, it is no surprise that work can be heard behind the walls. Disney will want to get this area moving quickly to avoid choke points in the walkways.
