Mexico City Couple Pulls Off Sweep at Disneyland Half Marathon Presented by HONDA

The final runDisney races at the Disneyland Resort were held this past weekend. The multi-day race weekend featured events for runners of all ages and fitness levels, from yoga and kids’ races to a 5K, 10K, half-marathon and a bustling health and fitness expo, which was held at the Disneyland Hotel.

Two runners started the race together and crossed the finish line as champions. Ismiain Hernandez and Itzel Bautista from Mexico City, Mexico, claimed the men’s and women’s titles at the Disneyland Half Marathon presented by HONDA. Hernandez surged to the front from the very start and never looked back, weaving past the resort’s most iconic landmarks on the 13.1-mile runDisney course.

Outpacing more than 14,000 runners, Hernandez finished in 1:12:20; two minutes ahead of his nearest competitor, Sean Caster of San Marcos, California (1:14:21), who finished second, followed closely by Cody Draa of Canton, Ohio (1:14:29) in third.

Waiting at the finish line for Bautista, Hernandez cheered as his partner completed her race with a strong, steady pace, crossing in 1:20:53 to take the women’s title. She was followed by Brenda Guerrero Ruiz of Mexico City (1:23:44) and Jane Hughes of Rathdowney, Ireland.

Hernandez and Bautista shared a finish-line hug and celebrated their victories with a day in the parks.

Thousands of runners from Southern California and beyond participated in the race weekend at Disneyland Resort, navigating a course that wound through iconic locations including Sleeping Beauty Castle, Cars Land, Pixar Pal-A-Round, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge before extending into the surrounding Anaheim community.

Along Sunday’s half-marathon course, runners were surrounded by character appearances, live entertainment, and a festive atmosphere happening amid the 70th anniversary of Disneyland Resort.

The runDisney season continues with the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort, February 26 – March 2. Each event gives participants the unique opportunity to run through Disney theme parks, enjoy world-class entertainment, and earn exclusive runDisney medals.

Registration for the 2026 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend will begin on February 10 at rundisney.com. This event will be held October 22-25, 2026, at Walt Disney World Resort.
