It was a rainy New Year’s Eve at the Disneyland Resort. That did little to dampen the spirits of those in attendance at the Happiest Place on Earth. Throughout the night, celebrations could be found throughout Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney District, and the Hotels at the Disneyland Resort. This included DJ’s, decorations, Disney friends, and fireworks!
Friend of Daps Magic Spencer braved the crowds and the weather to check out what was going on in the parks. Throughout the course of the night, he visited both parks, saw several characters, and caught the countdown to midnight for the East Coast in the Disney Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. While the rain came down outside, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and friends danced the night away with a DJ. Ahead of the countdown in the theater, Mickey, Minnie, and even Goofy could be found outside of the Carthay Restaurant on Buena Vista Street in their New Year’s Eve best as the rain came down.
Things were a bit drier inside the theater, but the spirits were equally exuberant.
After the New Year’s countdown for the East Coast, Spencer checked out some of the other offerings throughout the Disneyland Resort. The lights were even more magical with reflections everywhere. There were also special effects, photo ops, and more offerings to make and keep memories with throughout the two parks and beyond. While the area right in front of the castle filled up before the midnight countdown, there were still quite a few places with plenty of room to watch the midnight countdown and fireworks. After wandering around the parks, Spencer found a spot shortly before midnight on Main Street, USA. There, he filmed the following video of the fireworks as they rang in the New Year.

Throughout the evening and as people were saying goodnight, several Disney friends could be found ringing in the New Year in their PJs in the Opera House. Normally, they would have been found in Town Square, but the weather moved them inside. This created a cozy atmosphere for guests as they visited these characters.
This New Year might have been a bit wetter than some, but this did not dampen the spirits of those who visited the Disneyland Resort to celebrate.
