Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin - Buddy

Disney Shares Closer Look at Buddy Ahead of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Reopening

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is currently getting refurbished and upgraded. The upgrades include a new show scene, updated ride vehicles, and gameplay enhancements. They also include a new support bot named Buddy. Buddy makes sure departing Space Rangers are fully prepared for their mission, enthusiastically providing encouragement, final system checks on their Star Cruisers, and a chance to hone their blaster aim. This will also be a time for guests to give the new interactive targets a try beforeheading off to battle the Evil Emperor Zurg.

Buddy appeared in the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade earlier this week. Following this, Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Parks shared a look at Buddy on social media. Take a look at the video below that introduces Buddy.

Along with Buddy, there will also be updated ride vehicles. They will be equipped with video monitors that will provide updates on scores and other features. The attraction will also feature new blasters that promise to provide better aim and, with it, higher scores! The blasters will also have a laser to help with aim. In each vehicle, there will be a different color of laser for each rider. As mentioned before, the targets will also be interactive and light up when shot. There will also be some surprises that Imagineers have teased.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is set to reopen sometime in the spring of 2026 at Walt Disney World Resort. What do you think of Buddy? Are you excited about the reopening of this attraction? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
