Avatar: Fire and Ash continues to dominate the box office. As it finishes up its second weekend, it once again took the top spot. Over the course of the weekend, it made another $88 million domestically. $64 million of this was from the actual weekend and didn’t include the extended holiday weekend. This put it solidly in first place, with Marty Supreme coming in second with $27.1 million on its second weekend.
At this point, Avatar: Fire and Ash is not tracking quite as strongly as its predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water. Internationally, the new Avatar film earned an additional $181.2 million over the weekend. By the end of the weekend, the film had earned $217.7 million domestically and $542.7 million internationally for a total of $760.4 million. With its current track, Fire and Ash should surpass $1 billion at the box office before the end of next weekend.
Once it hits the $1 billion mark, Avatar: Fire and Ash will be the third Disney film to reach this milestone globally this year. It will also mean that Disney is the only company with movies that made it to this level in 2025. Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia 2 have already reached this mark. Zootopia 2 continues to build at the box office. At this point, it has earned $1.42 billion globally. A significant chunk of these earnings has come from China, where the animated film has earned $561 million. The Avatar film is also being shown in China.
Avatar: The Way of Water went on to earn $2.3 million at the global box office. It is unknown if the newer film will do the same. While its earnings are behind its predecessor at this point, it only lost 238% of its audience from its first to second weekend. This is in comparison to The Way of Water, which saw a 52% drop in viewers during the same time period.
