A Month of Thanksgiving - Impressions de France

Impressions de France – A Month of Thanksgiving

One of my favorite places that Disney has created is EPCOT. One of my favorite places within EPCOT is the France Pavilion. Inside the France Pavilion, I absolutely love Impressions de France. Today, this is what I’m thankful for. There are multiple reasons behind this, but as I think about this opening-day show at EPCOT, I can’t help but be happy.

Château de Chenonceau – France 1999

Growing up in Minnesota, my high school had three different languages that could be taken: Spanish, German, or French. Having loved reading French authors (in English) growing up, I decided to take French. What started as just a class to take to satisfy a requirement turned into something I really came to enjoy. It led to the discovery of French artwork, food, culture, music, and architecture. It also led to multiple trips to France through the years. Fast forward a couple of decades, and it has been several years since I trekked across the pond to visit France. With frequent visits to Walt Disney World Resort, I end up getting a little taste (often quite literally) at the France Pavilion at EPCOT.

Watching Impressions de France is one of my favorite things at the France Pavilion. There are so many beautiful places that are shown on the screen, several of which I’ve been to. I love the use of French music throughout the show. Buddy Baker does an incredible job weaving the music of Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Paul Dukas together. While at one point, the show might have seemed a bit old. Now it feels vintage. It provides a nostalgic look at France that warms the soul like a warm blanket in front of the fire on a winter’s day. It is something that I never tire of, and sadly, often miss because of the limited times it is offered now.

There are so many things to be thankful for in the realm of Disney and positive stuff. I could probably do A Month of Thanksgiving every day for a decade and still not be finished. If you have something you are thankful for, please take a moment and share in the comments! Happy Thanksgiving!
