A Month of Thanksgiving - Horse-Drawn Street Car

Horse-Drawn Street Car – A Month of Thanksgiving

One of the things I am really thankful for is the Horse-Drawn Street Car at Disneyland. Nearly every day, horses pull an old-fashioned trolley up and down Main Street, USA, from Town Square to Sleeping Beauty Castle and back. This is fun to watch and fun to ride. It brings a strong dose of nostalgia to Main Street. It also adds something very peaceful to the area. On top of that, it adds kinetic energy as it goes to and from Town Square to the Castle.

The Horse-Drawn Street Car is perhaps one of the simplest attractions at Disneyland. Pulled by a horse, it follows the same track for every trip. It is one of those things that is a strong reminder that Main Street, USA takes place in a time long-gone by. This can be easy to forget in an era with incredible nighttime spectaculars with projections, incredible lighting packages for parades, and more modern music during the parades and spectaculars.

Sometimes during the day, the Dapper Dans will hop on board the trolley and perform their way up and down Main Street. This just adds to that nostalgic magic that this attraction brings. It is so fun watching people geek out when they notice that not only are they seeing the Dapper Dans, but that they are also on the Horse-Drawn Street Car!

The Horse Drawn Street Car is not an attraction that has a massive capacity. However, it has a massive contribution to the Disneyland experience. It adds to the ambiance and helps tell the story of the turn-of-the-century Main Street, USA. It not only does this by simply being seen on Main Street, but also by being heard. The sound of the horse clip-clopping its way through the park is a magical thing as well. It is also very fun to see the horses throughout the day, take photos of them, and sometimes even take pictures WITH them! I love the Horse Drawn Street Car on Main Street, USA, and am so thankful that they continue to delight guests 70 years after the opening of Disneyland.
