Another step in the trek for DinoLand to extinction has been made. The Boneyard play area closed after being open for operations on Monday, September 1, 2025. This was an open-air play area that was designed to look like a dinosaur dig site at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Soon, it will be a part of the Tropical Americas as the area is transformed to include the stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto and Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones.
On the final day of operation, it just so happened that friend of Daps Magic Spencer was visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. He took plenty of photos and video of the area before it shut down permanently. Check out the photos and video he took here:

The transformation of DinoLand into Tropical Americas is scheduled to be completed sometimes in 2027. DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus still remain open in the area before they too go extinct. Disney has shared details about the Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s. Official named Pueblo Esperanza, the 11-acre area has been described in the following way:
Tropical Americas — better known as Pueblo Esperanza — will be a new 11-acre lush and sprawling area. Just like Harambe, this land will feel lived in, with a long, rich history. Not only will the land include a hacienda — which will be one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World Resort — but also two signature attractions for Indiana Jones and Encanto.
Additionally, the area will feature a large fountain in the center and a local woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories. It’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families are going to love.
Once completed, Pueblo Esperanza will have a new themed play area for kids to enjoy.
