The Beak and Barrel is now open at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Guests who are able to snag a reservation for this Pirates of the Caribbean-themed pub can now experience what it is like to be a Disney pirate. This new pub is found in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom, and a scroll and a sign can be found out front that reveal its entrance. The tavern was established by Captain Merry Goldwyn and continues to be overseen by Rummy, her parrot.

The Rooms
It includes two main rooms. “The Mess” is the largest and central space at The Beak and Barrel. It was once the mess hall for Spanish soldiers. It has long tables spanning the room. This allows for pirates to gather ’round and tell a “whale of a tale, and it’s all true.” There is also an imposing anchor that is covered in candles and dripping wax hanging above.
There is also a large bar that anchors one side of the room. It is cobbled together from salvaged portions of a cursed shipwreck. In the center, a skull-shaped stern is the home to an impressive collection of grogs and brew. Those who look closely might spot the Enchanted Rum Bottle. This was gifted to Merry by the enchantress Tia Dalma. It appears to be the source of the tavern’s specialty brews. Rummy also makes appearances above the bar.
The second room is the Captain’s Quarters. This is where visiting pirates can enjoy a taste of the finer life. This room was once the living quarters of the Spanish Comandante. Through the years, the final artwork and drapery have suffered from rambunctious pirates slashing away at things and burning things. In some places, faded spots on the wall are all that is still there from portraits that have been plundered by pocket-picking pirates.
Over the fireplace, there are miniature ships in glass bottles on display (we’ll return to that later). They are rumored to represent pirates from every corner of the world banding together to defeat tyranny.
The Details
Throughout The Beak and Barrel, there is no shortage of details and Easter Eggs to be found. There are references to the attraction and also the movie. There are also some fun show moments. Most of these show moments include Rummy. Rummy is Captain Merry’s first mate and her companion. He also holds the job of quartermaster for the tavern. While retired from seafaring life, Rummy continues to make sure everything is shipshape as he shares his tales of piracy and also leads the bar in a rousing toast or two. All of these are accompanied by the crew that works there, bringing added energy to the experience. Speaking of energy, it is borderline boisterous as there are moments that lead to the shouting of “Yo ho!” or the singing of the song of the same name.
As you walk in and out of the pub, see if you can spy some of the fun details in the different rooms. People are asked to remain seated during the experience. However, see if you can find a certain treasure chest that might have appeared in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Check out some of the notes on the wall at the end of the bar. Keep your eye open for Kat with a K, the pub’s cat. Look for the napping pirate with his foot hanging out of his hammock. If that isn’t enough, there are also nods to the two private Disney Cruise Line destinations, or a seat where a picture can be taken to become part of a portrait. There are countless things to find throughout The Beak and Barrel that will undoubtedly be cataloged by some eager fan who makes dozens of visits to do so.
Another highlight in the pub is the ships in bottles. Found atop a fireplace, two ships go into battle occasionally. Fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean will recognize the battlecries and delight in the ending of this sea battle. For those who don’t mind a spoiler, watch the battle here:
Provisions

The food and beverages in The Beak and Barrel fit with everything else. They are tasty and continue the Pirates of the Caribbean theme of the pub. The full menu can be found here. It’s a good idea to check out the menu and decide what you want to order ahead of the experience, as visits are limited to 45 minutes. During the media preview, guests were offered Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Chipotle-braised Chicken (Warm Corn Cakes stuffed with Melted Cheese, Lime Sour Cream, Chili Peppers, and Cotija), the Salty Seas mARRRgarita (Lalo Blanco Tequila, Cointreau Liqueur, Ube, and Lime), and the Treasure Trove (Ube, Lemon, and Coconut Concoction served with a Vanilla Cake Plank, Chocolate Cannonball, and Golden Caramel Popcorn). I would be happy having any of these again. The real surprise was the griddle cakes, which were an enjoyable snack.
The Beak and Barrel is a completely immersive experience that allows guests to continue the experience of the beloved attraction it is found next to. Pirates of the Caribbean continues to be a favorite attraction and franchise for fans from around the world. This new pub also looks like it will be a favorite for fans who want to continue the Pirates of the Caribbean experience when they visit the Magic Kingdom.
