It takes many people to make the magic come alive at Disney. At Disneyland Paris, one of the magic makers is Germaine. Germaine has worked in various key support roles at Disneyland Paris since 2017. Currently, his responsibilities include managing the company’s capital assets, from tracking to deployment. Sometimes this also means different things, like giving them a second life. As a Disney VoluntEARS, Germaine helps make sick children’s wishes come true. He accompanies multiple charities for magical days in the parks. In a recent interview shared by Disneyland Paris, Germaine talks about this. Read it below.
1. Tell us about your journey at Disneyland Paris.
I joined Disneyland Paris in 2017, during the 25th anniversary celebrations. I started as a warehouse operator on a fixed-term contract, then moved into the kitchens as a commis chef on a permanent contract. After that, I transitioned into accounting, and in 2021, I joined the Property Control team. What I really appreciate is the opportunity to explore very different roles without changing companies. My curiosity and eagerness to learn have allowed me to grow.
2. What training did you do?
I completed a vocational high school diploma in sales and customer advice. This training gave me a taste for service and interpersonal relations, which I’ve found throughout my journey at Disney—even in very different roles.
3. What made you want to apply?
I’ve always been drawn to the richness of the Disney universe. It’s a company where you can discover a wide variety of jobs, grow, and learn. I’m a curious and self-taught person, and Disney has provided the ideal environment for me to develop while staying true to my values.
4. Tell us about your daily responsibilities.
I currently work in the Property Control department as a project coordinator. This department is responsible for referencing and inventorying the company’s capital assets. My role is to coordinate the various projects led by our team, whether they involve asset management, traceability, redeployment, or valuation. I started in this department as a management assistant, and over time, I’ve been able to grow thanks to my curiosity, dedication, and constant desire to learn.
5. Can you tell us more about « La Recyclerie de Martin »?
La Recyclerie de Martin is an initiative from our department. When an asset is no longer used by the company, we try to give it a second life: either by redeploying it to another department, selling it at a low price to Cast Members through the Recyclerie, or donating it to charities through our partnership with the Philanthropy team. It’s a circular economy approach that’s close to my heart. I love the idea of bringing joy, giving these items a second life, and sometimes even making people happy through donations. But this project wouldn’t exist without my colleagues—it’s a true team effort, driven by collective energy.
6. Is the environmental aspect important to you?
Yes, it’s essential. Working with a mindset of circular economy and waste reduction gives real meaning to what I do. It’s a concrete way to contribute to a more sustainable future.
7. What’s your idea of the ideal job?
For me, the ideal job is one where you learn, share, and feel useful. It should be meaningful, aligned with your values, and allow you to grow. That’s what I’ve found here: an environment where I can evolve, take on new challenges, and invest myself on a human level.
8. You’re also a Disney VoluntEAR.
I’ve been involved as a Disney VoluntEar since 2018. I had heard that the company gave employees the opportunity to take part in volunteer actions, especially by welcoming associations to the parks.
My first action took place on a cold day in February 2018, when I accompanied a charity association in the park. At the end of the day, the mothers and children hugged me to thank me for the magical day, where they had been treated like VIPs. That moment deeply moved me and made me want to keep volunteering. VoluntEAR once, VoluntEAR always!
Every action leaves a mark. It’s hard to choose just one. I think of Marie’s dream—a little girl who wanted to be a princess for a day and was the very first to enter the Disneyland Hotel with her family on reopening day. Or the day we welcomed 10,000 children as part of the “Journées des Oubliés des Vacances” with the Secours Populaire Français. But in the end, every family and association we support leaves us with unforgettable memories. Seeing the children’s eyes light up thanks to the magic we bring them is the greatest reward.
9. Any anecdotes to share?
More than a single anecdote, it’s all the human memories, the looks, the exchanges that stay with me during the volunteer actions I take part in with the Disney VoluntEars. With every mission, we give a lot… but we receive even more. It’s a human richness I’ll never forget.
10. What’s next for you?
This interview comes at a time of transition for me: I’m about to join the Design & Delivery team, with broader responsibilities around relocations, reuse, and office asset tracking. But I’ll stay connected to Property Control, as our scopes remain linked. This common thread of circular economy, commitment, and purpose will remain strong. Everything I’ve learned in my current role will follow me in the next chapter of my journey at Disneyland Paris.
