On this day in 2010, Disney’s Animal Kingdom joined the United Nations in observing the International Year of Biodiversity. Rafiki’s Planet Watch hosted fun and educational activities about why biodiversity is important and how humans can preserve global species. Guests took part in “biodiversity bingo,” animal meet-and-greets, presentations about seed and sea life diversity by teams from EPCOT, and observed animal medical examinations at the on-site vet hospital.
