On this day in 1995, ‘Pocahontas’ held its premiere outdoors in New York City’s Central Park. The Great Lawn hosted over 100,000 guests who watched the film for free on four 80-foot high movie screens. This large crowd made ‘Pocahontas’ the largest movie premiere in history! Singer Vanessa Williams performed live after the screening. Famous attendees included then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner, Mariah Carey, and then-New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. [30 years ago in 2025]
