When the Disney Destiny joins the Disney Cruise Line fleet later this year, it will host some incredible entertainment (sorry, not getting into food and other amenities today). One of the entertainment offerings will be a Broadway-style production of Disney Hercules. This alone is enough to make Disney fans want to go on a cruise aboard the Disney Destiny! As work continues on the physical construction of the ship as it nears completion, work is also being done on this new stage show.

This week it was announced that Disney Live Entertainment traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to record the music for Disney Hercules. This is part of the preparation for this Broadway-style musical’s debut on the Disney Destiny.

In Nashville, they were joined by a small group of singers that came up from Orlando, Florida who joined with the voices of a 17-person choir from some of Nashville’s greatest gospel singers. The goal was to reimagine the iconic soundtrack from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules. This film has a fantastic soulful sound with lots of energy. The fresh take on the musical arrangements was brought further to life with an orchestra of nearly 70 incredible musicians. They were joined also by a 10-piece marching band drum line.

Together, these talented musicians worked for over 50 hours to produce the 55-minute soundtrack for the show. This includes an all-new theatrical rendition of Shooting Star. This was a song written for the film that didn’t make it into the Final Cut originally. Now that the music is complete, the team will continue to develop other show elements including props, choreography, and costumes to prepare to perform in front of future cruise guests when the show debuts in November.
