On this day in 2005, Mickey Mouse led the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C. as its Grand Marshal. The honor was an extended celebration of Mickey’s 75th anniversary from 2003. Along with his parade duties, Mickey was honored at the “Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations” showcase in Woodrow Wilson Plaza. The traveling exhibit contained 75 6-foot-tall Mickey statues, each designed by a different artist or celebrity. [20 years ago in 2025]
