On this day in 1990, the first Mickey’s Kitchen opened at the Montclair Plaza near Los Angeles. The restaurant debuted alongside a Disney Store and was an experiment designed to generate more traffic and sales at the store. A second location later opened outside Chicago. Diners could choose from options like Goofy or Mickey’s Burgers, Supercalisandwiches, or Soup-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. The concept ultimately didn’t work and both locations closed in 1992.
