Grumpy’s Gauntlet Unveiled at Magnolia Golf Course at Walt Disney World Resort

The last five holes at Walt Disney World’s Magnolia Golf have seen a bit of a makeover. They are now affectionately being called Grumpy’s Gauntlet. It is possible that the new holes could make people grumpy, or at least give a new challenge at the end of a round!

Grumpy’s Gauntlet is made up of holes number 14, 15, 16, and 17. Anyone who takes a look at these beautiful holes might have a hard time being grumpy…. unless those beautiful white sand bunkers are magnets for their golf balls. This is definitely not just a great golf experience but also a great place to take a picture or two.

While this area is beautiful, it will also offer some challenges. The 15th hole is an impressive 597 yards from the back of the tee box. Fast forward to hole number 17 and golfers will find a par 3 that plays at more than 200 yards!

Along with these new Disney touches that can be found in Grumpy’s Gauntlet at Magnolia course, there are some other fun things found throughout the course. Every hole on the golf course has a name related to a Disney movie. The each also include a quote from legendary golfer Arnold Palmer or Walt Disney himself. An example shared by Disney is hole number 6. This hole is called “The Mouse Trap” and includes Walt Disney’s famous quote, “I hope we never lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” Hole number 15 is called “The Dinglehopper.” This is in reference to The Little Mermaid. It has the quote, “It’s a funny thing; the more I practice, the luckier I get.”  This is a classic Arnold Palmer quote.

On top of all the new details shared above, there is also a new 18-hold putting green that is found at the course. It is called “The Greatest Green Ever Played.” It features a scorecard and hole locations that change almost daily. This makes for both a fun and challenging experience for golfers to warm up before teeing off. It’s also a great option for the kids. The new name for this putting green comes from the biographical Walt Disney Pictures sports film, The Greatest Game Ever Played. This film is based on the early life of amateur golf champion Francis Ouimet and his surprise win at the 1913 U.S. Open.

All of these changes on the putting green and the reimagined holes at Magnolia Golf make for the biggest and most extensive redesign of this Disney golf course. They are also the most recent changes since 2015. This is when there were several enhancements that were completed around the course. Magnolia Golf can be found across from the new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Golfers can book tee times at golfwdw.com
