Recently for The Dapsies on Geeks Corner, the two hosts of the show each created a short film for the awards show. This year, Mr. Daps decided to create a cooking short film. After the cooking corner of Daps Magic, it was called Geek Eats. This might actually lead to more of these segments in the future. In the segment, Mr. Daps shared how to make Gochujang SPAM Rice. This is a recipe he created that was inspired by a few other recipes, one of which can be found on SPAM.com. It is a simple recipe with not too many ingredients. Hopefully, this makes it easy and accessible. It also turned out to be quite delicious! Check it out below!
Gochujang SPAM Rice Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 can of SPAM
- 1 Tablespoon Gochujang Paste
- 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar/Brown Sugar/Honey (I use honey)
- 4 cups of cooked Rice
- 1/4 cup chopped Green Onions
- A Tablespoon Olive Oil/Sesame Oil
Directions:
- Cook rice as directed (I use a rice cooker, the rice can also be cooked on the stove or in the microwave if you don’t have a rice cooker)
- Put a pan on medium-high and then begin to slice the SPAM
- When pan is hot, put SPAM in and brown
- Chop up green onions while SPAM is browning
- Flip SPAM when browned
- Mix Gochujang Paste, Soy Sauce, and Honey
- Once both sides of SPAM are brown, turn the heat to low
- Pour Gochujang mixture on top of the SPAM and spread around both sides
- Let SPAM rest for a few minutes while putting rice in a bowl
- Grab a couple of pieces of SPAM and put on top of the rice
- Sprinkle the Chopped Onions on top (can also use other toppings like Furikake, Edamame, Sesame Seeds, etc)
- Serve and enjoy!
