25 Years Disney Pin Trading

Disney Celebrates 25 Years of Pin Trading

It’s hard to believe it but Disney is celebrating 25 years of pin trading. In honor of this, Disney is celebrating with new product releases and events for long-time pin traders or those just getting started. Along with the exciting new things, Disney also shared some basics about pin trading. Check out the specifics here:

What Is a Disney Pin?

Disney pins are collectible keepsakes with character (literally!). There’s a Disney pin for every fan, so they’re the perfect way to show off your interests or commemorate your visit.

On top of the thousands of pin designs found in our shopping locations, there are special collectible sets called Hidden Disney sets that are only available by trading with cast members for a limited time. Each Hidden Disney set contains unique designs with a small, hidden silver Disney icon.

What Is Disney Pin Trading?

Disney Pin Trading is a fun way for guests to swap official Disney pins with cast members. Kiddos are welcome to participate, too, so it’s a great activity for your next family visit.

The tradition started 25 years ago during the Millennium Celebration at EPCOT, and since then, hundreds of millions of Disney pins have been circulated. We celebrated its return last year and at Disneyland in 2022, and today you can find cast members all over the world trading from lanyards and pin boards.

Looking for a particular pin? Each board and accessory has different pins that change by the minute, so you never know when you might find the pins that complete your collection.

How to Trade Pins with Cast Members

  1. Make sure you have a pin to trade! Choose from official Disney pins at merchandise locations within our parks and resorts or on DisneyStore.com
  2. Brush up on the latest guidelines for trading pins at Walt Disney World and Disneyland
  3. Look for cast members with Disney Pin Trading boards and lanyards.
  4. Say hello and ask if you can look at their collection of pins.
  5. Find a Disney pin with your favorite character, attraction, movie or design, and trade one of yours with the cast member. You’re officially a pin trader!

Pro Tip: If you’re new to collecting pins, I recommend getting a starter set. Each one comes with a uniquely themed lanyard and a set of Disney pins, perfect for keeping or trading.
