Bob Iger Responds to Request For More Figment

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Bob Iger hosted the bulk of The Walt Disney Company 2025 Annual Shareholder Meeting. This meeting led to many updates about the company’s segments including entertainment, ESPN, and Experiences. The meeting also revealed that Coco 2 is in the works at Pixar Animation Studios.

The question and answer portion of the shareholder meeting is always an entertaining part of the meeting. One of the questions during this portion of the meeting was regarding the future use of Figment. Would he be used elsewhere, perhaps even on film?

Iger replied, “This is my 24th year. 18th as CEO, and I think the question about Figment has been asked about 15 times.”

While his answer was short, it undoubtedly will be getting Figment fans thinking, wishing, dreaming, and prognosticating.

“We know that he’s popular with shareholders, the fact that they ask questions about him all the time. But we also know that he’s popular at EPCOT where you can meet him and journey into imagination. I’ll tell you why — I’ve been asked this so many times that I am going to ask our creative teams to consider making some form of series or short-form videos of Figment,” Iger continued. “Because obviously, he’s more popular than just a walk-around character in our parks and resorts.”

This response is not an announcement that a series or short-form video with Figment will be coming. It simply means a conversation will happen. Out of this conversation, new ideas could grow. However, as was mentioned multiple times by Iger during the shareholder meeting, the focus of Disney is on quality and not quantity. Disney won’t just make a Figment series or short-form videos just to make them. They will have to be quality and tell a good story.

Figment is the central character in the Journey Into Imagination attraction in EPCOT’s Imagination Pavilion. This is the third iteration of the attraction. Guests can also meet and take photos with Figment at the exit of the attraction in the Imagination Pavilion.

For years, there has been talk that the attraction will be updated. This has not materialized yet, to the dismay of fans who hoped that an announcement would be made at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Figment has made appearances in films like Inside Out and Toy Story 2. He has not been central to his own film, however. Figment merchandise has proven to be popular through the years. A Figment popcorn bucket that was released a couple of years ago had fans waiting hours to purchase for their collection.
