On this day in 1935, artist Paul Wenzel was born. Wenzel had a 42-year career with Disney, beginning in 1958. During that time, he worked on over 100 movie posters, including for ‘Mary Poppins.’ Wenzel became the first Art Director for Disney Consumer Products, and was then named Creative Director of Character Art. His most famous work was a portrait of Walt Disney used in a 1968 U.S. postage stamp, which sold 150 million copies in the first 10 days! [90 years ago in 2025]
