Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade will be debuting at Magic Kingdom this summer at Walt Disney World Resort. This brand-new electrical parade promises to be magical and memorable. It also looks to have things that connect with Disney fans of all generations.
Today, Disney shared more about this parade. This includes a new piece of concept art, thoughts on how it is being developed, and a look at the costumes that will be worn when the parade debuts.
The team behind the creation of this parade has been utilizing the following phrase “a nod to the past with our eyes firmly set on the future” as they create this new nighttime offering. Disney shared that the team is drawing inspiration from the rich legacy of nighttime parades at Magic Kingdom along with some of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ earliest animated features.
Disney shared the following about the respect that is being given to Disney’s legacy in the parade:
This reverence for the past will be on full display in the parade’s recently revealed princess unit, which pays homage to Disney Legend and artist Mary Blair’s original concept artwork for Disney Animation’s “Cinderella.” Anchored by a gleaming fountain of light that overflows to illuminate a cosmic ballroom, the float is just one piece of the constellation of classic and contemporary stories that make up this new parade. Moments from Disney Animation’s “Moana,” “Peter Pan,” “Frozen,” “Encanto” and more will unfold on a bed of starlight as the cavalcade floods Main Street, U.S.A. with some of your favorite tales.
Great care is also being spent on working on the costumes for Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. The team is hard at work creating all of the glimmering garments that will be seen in the parade.
The costume teams are utilizing innovative lighting techniques and whimsical custom fabrics to create a look that appears to be “kissed by starlight.” Disney shared a photo of a prototype costume piece for the parade and said, “try to imagine it swirling down the parade route, layers of shimmering fabric picking up the glow of the surrounding floats, each light twinkling in perfect synchronization with the music.”
The music for this parade hasn’t been shared yet. However, the Disney Parks Blog teased that it will be coming soon.
