On this day in 1990, the Party Gras Parade kicked off for the first time as part of Disneyland’s 35 Years of Magic Celebration. The parade was inspired by Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It included 40-foot cold air character balloons, lavish floats, stilt walkers, and performers who would toss beads and commemorative coins to guests. The Party Gras Parade ran in California until November 18. Afterwards, a version moved to Tokyo Disneyland through 1993. [35 years ago in 2025]
