On this day in 1999, Cynthia Harriss was named president of the Disneyland Resort. Harriss started her career in retail, selling women’s apparel. She joined Disney in 1992 as senior vice president of Disney Stores. In 1997, she moved to Disneyland as head of park operations and merchandise and then executive VP. Harriss served as president of the Disneyland Resort between 1999 and 2003, including during the debut of Disney’s California Adventure. [25 years ago in 2024]
