Simon Kinberg Tapped by Lucasfilm to Write and Produce New ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy

A new trilogy is in the works from a galaxy far, far away. Simon Kinberg has reportedly signed on with Lucasfilm to both write and produce a new Star Wars trilogy. This would kick off a new saga in the Star Wars universe if it does indeed get made. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will also be producing these films.

The new trilogy from Kinberg is set to be an original saga and not part of the Skywalker Saga. The Skywalker Saga is made up of the three Star Wars trilogies that began in 1977 with Star Wars: A New Hope. The completion of this saga came with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It is believed that Kinberg’s trilogy would be telling a new story with new characters. It is possible that known characters would make appearances in them.

Simon Kinberg is not an unknown in the Star Wars universe. He previously worked on Star Wars Rebels, which he co-created with Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck. He also acted as a consultant on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars doesn’t have the only space stories that Kinberg is working on. He is also working with Paramount to help develop future Star Trek films. He made the deal to do this with Paramount earlier this year. In this role, he would help produce future Star Trek films. It is believed that he will continue to work on both Star Trek and Star Wars moving forward.

Kinberg has also worked on other notable films in Hollywood. He worked on the X-Men movies, was a producer for Logan, and also was a producer for the first two Deadpool movies. He is also working with Edgar Wright’s take on Stephen King’s The Running Man as it is about to go into production.
