An annual holiday tradition at the Disneyland Resort is the making of candy canes. This takes place both at the Candy Palace & Candy Kitchen on Main Street, USA in Disneyland and also at Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The dates that these holiday treats will be made have been shared by the Disneyland Resort for each location. The Candy Canes will be made and sold in very limited quantities.

How to Get Candy Canes

This year to get Candy Canes, Disneyland Resort is using either a wristband or a mobile waitlist. This is because of the limited quantity of the Candy Canes that are made on each date listed above. Here is how to try and get Candy Canes on one of the dates listed above:

  • Get to the Disneyland Resort early (an hour before the park opens).
  • Upon the opening of the park, head (walk quickly, don’t run) to where the Candy Canes are being made on that day.
  • At the store, you will join a line to get a wristband or a mobile waitlist. Do not leave this line. Also, do not expect anyone to be able to join you (or you to join someone else). This is not allowed and is closely monitored.
  • If you receive a wristband, there should be a time on it when you are supposed to return and purchase your Candy Canes. If a mobile waitlist is used, you will be notified when to return.
  • When you return, each guest is allowed to purchase only 1 Candy Cane. They are larger than you might expect perhaps and are very fragile. Because of this, they come wrapped in bubble wrap generally.
  • If staying in the parks the rest of the day, it is a good idea to carefully put the Candy Cane in a locker.

Note: While a mobile waitlist might be used, the Candy Canes will not be available for mobile order.

Making Candy Canes

The Candy Canes that are made at Candy Palace & Candy Kitchen and at Trolley Treats are handmade on each day that they are sold. Guests can watch the Candy Canes be made throughout the day. This is a process that begins quite early in the morning before guests are allowed into the parks. It takes about two hours to make a Candy Cane. The room where the Candy Canes are made is kept just under 100 degrees so that the candy can be malleable and form correctly.

An Ongoing Tradition

The tradition of Candy Canes being made at the Disneyland Resort goes back many years. It is a popular and delicious tradition. If you wish to attempt to get a Candy Cane, recognize that many other people will as well. Also, recognize that quantity is very limited so showing up early sometimes simply isn’t enough to be able to get a wristband/join the mobile waitlist to get a Candy Cane. If you are unable to get one, please be patient and kind to the Cast Members who are there to help facilitate the process. Also, be kind to your fellow guests as well! Together we can make it the most wonderful time of the year and the most wonderful experience during this time!
