On this day in 1984, the first “On Stage in the Magic Kingdom” event was held at Walt Disney World. The special after-hours concert took place from 9 PM until 1:30 AM. Performers included Cheap Trick, The S.O.S. Band, Shannon, New Edition, and KC & The Sunshine Band. Tickets cost $14.95 at the gate and included unlimited rides on Magic Kingdom attractions. Two more On Stage events would be held in 1985, each with different headliners. [40 years ago in 2024]
