For many families, waking up on Thanksgiving morning and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an annual tradition. A part of that tradition is getting to see what Disney brings to the parade each year. For several years now, this has included celebrations of different cruise ships of the Disney Cruise Line. This year, they are doing something similar… but different.
The float that Disney Cruise Line will be bringing to the parade this year will feature multiple Disney Cruise Line ships, specifically the bows of these ships. The highlight of these will be the newest ship that is joining the fleet this year, the Disney Treasure. The float will be called “Magic Meets the Seas.” Those who are watching the parade will see that the float will also be accompanied by a very special performance that will include Disney and Pixar characters.
The float really is a celebration of the Disney Cruise Line fleet and also how it is growing. It will not only include the current fleet, but also the three new ships that will be joining the fleet by the end of next year. This includes the Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure. Those aren’t the only new ships that will be joining the fleet, however. By 2031, the fleet will have a compliment of 13 ships!
The Disney Treasure will be officially joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet this December. It recently left the shipyards in Germany where it was being built and made its way out to the ocean for its sea trials.
On Thanksgiving Day, Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse will be leading the way on top of the float. The two beloved captains will be joined by multiple other special guests who represent the stories and experiences that will be found coming to life aboard the Disney Treasure. This includes Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Miguel, and Moana.
The Disney Cruise Line ships are known for their Broadway style show. With that in mind, it makes a lot of sense that some of this style of entertainment should be utilized on the streets of New York for the parade. Fans who watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at home will get to see Mickey, Minnie, and other friends perform “a toe-tapping number.” This includes friends from Coco, Beauty and the Beast, and more. This performance will include a “melody of memories from favorite Disney films,” Disney shared. This will build to a big confetti-filled finale that will be set to the anthem of the Disney Treasure, Live the Adventure.
Be sure to tune in (or record it on Hulu or DVR) to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade so you don’t miss this incredible new float making its way through New York. You also won’t want to miss the performance with Mickey, Minnie, and all their friends!
