Walt Disney World Monitoring Tropical Storm Helene, Operations Are Currently Unaffected

Tropical Storm Helene is currently a tropical storm that is steaming its way toward Florida. It is expected to be a strong hurricane when it arrives at the Florida coastline. At this point, Walt Disney World is continuing with normal operations as the storm makes its way through the Gulf of Mexico.

Today, Walt Disney World Resort put the following note on its website:

Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.

As of Tuesday evening, a Tropical Storm Warning had been issued for Orange and Osceola Counties. This is where Walt Disney World Resort is located. While the storm isn’t expected to hit the area directly and instead Florida’s eastern Panhandle or Big Bend, it could still impact operations at Walt Disney World. Depending on the impact of the storm, it could range from minor modifications of outdoor operations, the cancellations of outdoor shows and experiences, to potentially even the closure of the parks.

If you are staying at Walt Disney World Resort, kindly follow the instructions of the cast members. They are tasked with keeping guests safe and are also still attempting to create a magical environment. If a hurricane or tropical storm does hit, there are many different types of dangers that will accompany it. This doesn’t just include the storm itself, but also the water and flooding that comes with it. This can also lead to other dangers that may not be overtly apparent to guests. However, Disney will do everything it can to keep both guests and cast members safe.

Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
