On this day in 1978, the Stage Door Cafe opened in Frontierland at Disneyland. It replaced the Oaks Tavern, a refreshment stand, which had occupied the spot since 1956. The Stage Door Cafe is an extension of the Golden Horseshoe Saloon, although it is considered a separate dining location. It offers quick-service comfort food like chicken strips and fish and chips. In recent years, the location has become known for its specialty funnel cakes.
