The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in the middle of the Multiverse Saga. This saga kicked off in 2021 with Black Widow. It will continue through Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. This comes from Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum. In an interview with Screenrant, Winderbaum said, “I think that’s [what] Secret Wars is going to be, an amazing culmination to the saga, I think it’s going to make the journey feel like it was worthwhile.”
The confirmation by Winderbaum that Avengers: Secret Wars would end the Multiverse Saga has been assumed for quite some time. However, this is the first confirmation from Marvel on this matter.
With several years to go during this era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is still a lot of story to tell. This includes the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Doctor Doom. It isn’t known how exactly that will come about. It also isn’t known if his story will begin or end in the Avengers movie.
The first saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe began in 2008 with Iron Man. It continued on for 11 years with 23 movies. It made Marvel Studios a juggernaut at the box office during its run. The current saga already has 24 projects as a part of it. There will be more by the time the 8-year saga is completed in 2027.
The question of what will come after will become one that is discussed more and more in the coming years. It is very possible that the next saga will focus on the X-Men and be “The Mutant Saga” or something of the like. This is still quite a ways on the horizon, but undoubtedly, more clues will be dropped along the way.
