Director Krennic

Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Krennic Returning for Season 2 of Andor

Director Orson Krennic, the man driving the construction of the Death Star in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is returning for the second season of Andor. In an interview with The Playist, filmmaker Alonso Ruizpalacios shared some news about season two of the Star Wars series. Some of this revealed some of the actors who apparently will be appearing in Andor.

Ruizpalacios, a director for season two of the series, shared about what a pleasure it was to direct some heavyweight actors like “Stellan Skarsgård, Forest Whitaker, and Ben Mendelsohn.” He apparently didn’t realize that he was revealing information about the second season that wasn’t known. In the interview he was very paranoid about giving away spoilers for Andor with how secretive Lucasfilm is.

Another bit of information that he released was that he is directing the final three episodes of the season. He also confirmed that it will end exactly where the series has always been set to end, leading up into the events of Rogue One. It would be unsurprising, then, if Krennic showed up closer to the end of the season and the events of the film.

In an interview in 2022, series creator Tony Gilroy spoke about how the season leads right into the events of Rogue One. It’s going to be [Cassian] walking across the tarmac to get in the ship to go to the Rings of Kafrene to go meet Daniel Mays’ [Tivik informant character that Cassian kills in Rogue One, because he’s become a liability], he’s going there.”

The second season of Andor will be structured differently than the first season was. It will take place over the course of multiple years with time jumps to move the story along. It will also apparently include some familiar faces from Rogue One. It is possible there will also be the reveal of how Andor and K-2SO became a pair. Only time will tell.

At this time, the release date for the second season of Andor hasn’t been revealed. Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide when they become available.
