Walt Disney World Shares New Look at Updated Country Bear Musical Jamboree

The Country Bear Musical Jamboree will be opening at Magic Kingdom sometime this summer. When it does, there will be a new and reimagined show for the Country Bears. The Disney Parks Blog shared a new look at some of this show today. In particular, the new outfits for Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah were shared.

The new outfits were shown in a video that goes “behind-the-seams” with Sara Landesberge. Sara is a costumer with Disney Live Entertainment who is hard at work making incredible costumes for these iconic characters. Sara coordinates the different teams who are working together to create a complete garment, hat, or any other item that ends up being cent stage for the jamboree. This includes every single rhinestone that is hand-placed on the big-frills costumes. That has to be quite the job! Take a look at the video with Sara below about the costumes for Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah.

“I help source all the fabrics and components and rhinestones,” Sara explains. “I also work really closely with the patterning team to figure out how we’re actually going to make the garments come together in 3D, and how they’re going to fit the bears, who are all very uniquely shaped and different sizes.”

Sara explains that dressing these country bears isn’t quite the same as dressing people. It turns out that Audio-Animatronic figures don’t move the same way that humans do. Because of this, there is a different approach to creating costumes for these characters.

“They have lots of repetitive movement, so a lot of times we’ll add gussets or additional pockets of fabric to give them more room to move in those repetitive movements without destroying the costume,” Sara shared.

With this brand new look, Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah will be joining the rest of the County Bears to bring a new show to Frontierland. This will pay homage to the Opry-style shows of Nashville. The Country Bear Musical Jamboree promises to include Easter eggs throughout the show, including a familiar tune for fans. During the show, the bears will sing new, reinterpreted Disney tunes in different genres of country music. This will include bluegrass, pop-country, Americana, rockabilly, and other styles.
